Tegan and Sara's new "Boyfriend" video is an anti-video. Neither the duo nor director Clea Duvall came up with a plot, not even one that plays up the song's aggrieved lyrics. (Hint: The song is Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl," only with a lot more at stake.) There are green screens, though they are not used well. And there are fluffy dogs, of the real life and cardboard variety, though why, it's hard to tell. None of it makes any sense, except for maybe Tegan and Sara's killer outfits, though considering how catch "Boyfriend" is, that's more than fine.
