It was his dying wish, and director J.J. Abrams granted it.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, though for one Houston fan that wasn't soon enough. Daniel Fleetwood was diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma in 2012, then found out Monday that his lungs are 90 percent filled with tumors. His dying wish was to see The Force Awakens — and as of yesterday, that wish was granted.

Daniel's wife Ashley started a social media campaign, #ForceForDaniel, that caught the attention of Star Wars actors like Mark Hamill. The tactic worked: According to Ashley on Facebook, Daniel was able to see an unedited version of the film and even got to speak to director J.J. Abrams over the phone.
