Sure, our dear Taylor might be all happy in Swift-dom with her male model/DJ boyfriend Mr. Calvin Harris and enjoying all that comes along with being tall, blonde and rich floating on whatever inflatable swans are in the most expansive of expansive pools on both coasts. But, all that doesn’t technically mean she’s over her ex.

It is obvious. Taylor Swift still wants Harry Styles. And we fully support that.

It’s been apparent since the moment, soon after the infamous Swift/Styles breakup of early 2013, when Swift opened the Grammy’s with “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and called out her famous ex by doing the spoken word part of the song in a mock British accent. There’s soon, and then there’s too soon.

She was a woman scorned, and with that one public move she let it be known the two were never ever ever getting back together…maaaaaybe. The world (okay, Taylor Nation on Twitter) went bananas and the speculation began. We were in for a whirlwind Tay-Tay style and we sat and watched. And boy, did girl deliver.

A year and some change later, a confident Ms. Swift debuted her reinvented sound to the pop world with 1989, her 5^th studio album. Quickly becoming the bestselling album of the year, it was littered with fabulous tidbits of information about Haylor’s brief romance. It catapulted her fame to a whole new level, taking Beyoncé’s place as queen of pop, Jennifer Aniston’s as queen of breakups, and Kim’s (and Kendall’s, and Kylie’s) as queen of Instagram.

And in typical female form, armed with a TS stamp of approval, and that standard “if he’s good enough for her, he’s good enough for me” mentality—(now paging all Victoria’s Secret models), our favorite British boybander was hurled into the ear holes and minds of every lady out there, giving him first pick of any woman on earth he desires.

They Both Have a Thing for Victoria’s Secret Models

We know, who doesn’t. But really, these two get down and gritty with the girls. Tay is basically an honorary VS Angel after hosting both the 2013 and 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows and counts Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Lily Aldridge as members of her elite “Girl Squad,” all having been featured in the “Bad Blood” music video. While Harry has been linked with Delevingne, Sara Sampaio and Georgia Fowler, among others. 

T-Swift Tracks Down Harry’s Exes and Becomes Besties with Them

At the 2013 VS Fashion Show, which is shortly around the time that Styles was linked with Delevingne, Taylor, who donned a sexy Union Jack dress at the event, cozied up with Delevingne, posting selfies and smacking eachother’s booties on stage—obvious new best friend behavior. She eventually swooped in on Kendall Jenner as well, after Jenner and Style’s relationship went kaput. Perhaps they’re all just a couple girls who thoroughly enjoy one another’s company, or perhaps there’s strategy behind the friendships. We do all know Taylor’s stance on Girl Code after all.

They Share a Fondness for Ed Sheeran

Both British, Harry and Ed have been BFFs since before their careers exploded. Ed wrote a song for One Direction (“Little Things,”) they karaoke together and they stay up all night playing LEGOS. Taylor and Ed, on the other hand, also have quite the friendship. They also have a song they made together with an accompanying video called “Everything Has Changed,” he attends her parties and they’ve performed together on stage numerous times. It’s rumored that Sheeran wants his two friends back on good terms, which, with a middle man like that, is only a matter of time.

She Loves Writing Breakup Songs About Him

Harry provides loads of song inspiration apparently. And when all those songs turn out to be universal hits, maybe that particular relationship isn’t such a bad idea afterall. In “Out of the Woods” Taylor finds herself in a relationship where she spent the whole time worrying about when it would end. It felt fragile and she was never confident in it. In August 2013, at the VMA’s when Taylor accepted the Best Female Video award for “I Knew You Were Trouble,” she publically thanked “the person who inspired this song,” which was Harry who was sitting in the audience straight-faced. And then of course, there’s “Style”… and we all know “Long hair, slicked back, white tee-shirt” screams Harry. There’s his necklace hanging from her neck, secret midnight drives…all things we, as fans, know they were into at the time. Not to mention that whole his-last-name-is-the-title-of-the-song thing…It’s not even subtle.

“Perfect”

One Direction’s rebuttal to Taylor Mania was genius. The music video pays homage to the mistiness of the “Out of the Woods” video and features flashes of a close-up pair of eyes a la the “Style” video. There are mentions of secret rendezvous and “going places we can’t even pronounce.” All hell broke loose when Directioners and Swifties heard the next part: “If you like lights flashing every time we go out; if you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about,” which, face it, points all fingers, thumbs and toes to Taylor. Baby, she’s perfect, baby she’s perfect for you… HARRY!

They Love Their Fans

Both Taylor and Harry are known for their genuine niceness. They both have an undying appreciation for the people who have made them famous. Taylor regularly thanks her fans by trolling through their various social media accounts, responding with a various comment, hint of advice, or massive paycheck to those in need. She sends her fans Christmas gifts and invites them to her house(s). Harry’s way of living is similar. He got his start on the UK’s X Factor, so he knows first hand how important the fans are to making it. He regularly takes time to not only visit with fans wanting autographs but to spend time doing charitable work as well. He detours off his scheduled tour agenda to visit under-privileged children in suffering parts of the world and he donates his designer duds making sure the profits go to greater causes. For the video “One Way or Another,” instead of taking a big music video budget, they rather filmed the video themselves while on tour and donated the budget and sales of the single to help the needy in Africa and the UK.

They are Both the Elite of the Elite

When you’re on the level that they both are on, the pickings get slimmer. It’s not like Taylor, with her track record of celebrity lovers, is going to start dating the next Bachelor. And Harry’s whet his beak in the perfect bodies of VS Angel’s for so long, he’s most likely not interested in anything less…or more flabby. Which leads them to one another. They can fight it for as long as they need, but in a few years, mark our words, Haylor will be back; they are meant to be. 

Only next time, they deserve a new name…Tay-rry, anyone?
