Today, my manager came over to print stuff, and I knew he was frustrated because earlier we'd exchanged IMs about some document that we supposedly received and now needed to track down. And he says, "You know, I don't get why it's 2022, almost 2023, and we still have to use so much paper. This should all be digital. I shouldn't have to look for the document, it should be online, where we can all see it. We lose too much productivity looking for these documents. I'm about efficiency, y'know?" And I'm like... I agree, the amount of paper we deal with is ridiculous, but if we didn't have this much paper, I would not have a job or any attendant benefits. And I rather enjo -- well I wouldn't say I *enjoy* having health insurance, more that health insurance removes some amount of dread from everyday life, and absence of dread is as reasonable a substitute for joy as I'm ever going to find. I do quite like not feeling dread. Anyway hi.
