There is only one Grammy Award for opera music (Best Opera Recording)

and like so many Grammy categories that award is not given out during the actual telecast. Nevertheless, Sunday’s ceremony had good news for opera fans, thanks to the first look at Ron Howard’s upcoming documentary Pavarotti.

The film — which unveiled its first teaser during Sunday’s Grammys — is set to explore the life of Luciano Pavarotti, one of the most beloved opera singers of all time. Howard’s documentary will combine recordings of Pavarotti’s “genre-redefining” performances with never-before-seen footage. There will also be plenty of talking heads; the teaser features a clip of Bono saying, “The reason why he is great is he lived those songs.”

Howard tweeted about the film on Monday morning, saying “I’m just back from our sound and music mix @Abbey Road in London and I’m excited to share the music, Pavarotti‘s great performances and his surprising story with audiences.”
