From classic party jams, to a few songs whose popularity, in retrospect, may make you cringe, this was the ‘00s.
Beyonce – Irreplaceable
Weeks at #1: 10
Years: 2006-2007
Speaking of relationship songs that were troubling, Beyonce gave us “Irreplaceable,” a little ditty about how any man she dates could easily be replaced.
“Irreplaceable” represented a radical shift in attitude in R&B, as during the ‘90s our top R&B hits were all about love, or loss, while in the ‘00s songs about how much better we are than our exes dominated the genre, and the charts.
Where’s the love, yo?
Flo Rida w/ T-Pain – Low
Weeks at #1: 10 weeks
Year: 2008
This happened. This happened for 10 weeks in 2008. This happened for 10 weeks in 2008 and we still can’t get the damned chorus out of our heads.
“Low” was one of the ultimate earworm jams of the decade.
