Did our parents really let us listen to all of this?!

Christina Aguilera – "Genie in the Bottle" (1999)

Our favorite line: “Ooh (my body is saying let's go) / Ooh (but my heart is saying no)”

It still surprises us that Christina Aguilera’s switch from teen idol-hood to dirrrty-ness was considered a shock to some — did they forget her debut single was one huge sexual innuendo? A song that featured lyrics like “You gotta rub me the right way” rubbed more conservative listeners the wrong way and it was censored on some family-oriented radio stations.

There are several ways to interpret the Arabic-inspired lyrics, and let’s say none are related to the adventures of Aladdin. On the surface Christina’s talking about saving herself for the Mr. Right. But she may also be waiting for the guy who’ll finally “rub her the right way” and “release her” aka the one who knows how to properly please a pop star of her caliber. In other pop star’s words: “Work work work work work.”

Bryan Adams – "Summer of ’69" (1985)

Our favorite line: “We were young and restless / We needed to unwind”

Think this classic rock tune that propelled Canadian singer Bryan Adams to stardom was simply about the joys of his teenage years and light-hearted nostalgia? Well, think again, as Adams himself stated that the song had nothing to do with the year 1969. He meant having lots of oral sex in the 69 position during summer, because, as we all know, that’s what teenagers would much rather do than skateboard or go to the lake.
