The studio will be teaming up with the writers of 'Legally Blonde' and '10 Things I Hate About You.'

Here we go again: Disney has announced plans to remake 1992 Whoopi Goldberg classic Sister Act. TheWrap is reporting that Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith, the team behind Legally Blonde and 10 Things I Hate About You, are set to write the script.

The original Sister Act film had a budget of $31 million and brought i over $231 million worldwide at the box office. It brings us the story of a Vegas lounge singer named Deloris Wilson (Goldberg) who goes into witness protection after accidentally walking in on her mobster boyfriend carrying out a hit. Deloris ends up under the protection of St. Katherine's parish in San Francisco, where she revives both the church and congregation with her Vegas sensibilities—despite both her and the Reverend Mother's (Maggie Smith) objections.

A sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, was released in 1993 and starred Goldberg and a young Lauryn Hill.

No word yet on when the remake of Sister Act will hit theaters.
