Brad Pitt will be back to star in the zombie apocalyptic thriller's sequel.

The fast-paced first installment may have been nothing like the (...excellent, beloved) book it's based on, but it still turned out okay: World War Z is officially getting a sequel.

Paramount has announced a release date of june 9, 2017, and will be led by a new director: J.A. Barona, who's been at the helm for films like 2007's The Orphanage and a couple episodes of Showtime's Penny Dreadful.

According to World War Z 2's screenwriter, the movie will be "starting with a clean slate." Most importantly, Brad Pitt will be returning to play Gerry Lane, a man who traveled the world over for a solution to the global zombie epidemic.
