Band MembersI gig and record with various & sundry regional bands from GA up through Virginia. Have done albums and gigged out with Heather Jinmaku, The Christopher Angel Band, Skyypilot, The NewsHounds, Wild Rice, The Free Willies, and have tons of fun playing covers with the Kopy Katz and Highway Band.
InfluencesEverything from 1940's Big Band and Swing, through 60's be-bop and jazz, to the 70's and 80's Prog Rock like Yes and King Crimson to today's alternative blasters, as well as reggae/ska/WorldBeat. Started drumming at 10 to the British Invasion groups like The Hollies, Van Morrison, Cream, and Deep Purple. I enjoy creative female singers like Tori Amos, Amiee Mann, Kate Bush, Annie Lenox. Ani DeFranco, but I'll occasionally be in a Rush, Radiohead, REM, Rage Against the Machine, Ramones, Green Day, 3 Doors Down, Phish, Dead, Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, Coltrane, Monk, Hendrix, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, It's a Beautiful Day, Allman Bros, Kitaro, Vangelis, Yanni, Frank Zappa kinda mood. Favorite drummers include: John Bonham, Keith Moon, Jack DeJohnette, Tony White, Philly Jo Jones, Art Tatum, Curt Cress, Airto Morita, Manu Katche, Steve Gadd, Bill Bruford, Joe Morello, Eddie Palmieri, Elvin Jones, Evelyn Glennie, Ray Barreto, Carl Palmer and hundreds more.
Sounds LikeWith my Roland TD-20 electronic kit, I can sound like anything you want. Ever hear a bagpipe sample triggered by percussionist? Using MIDI, the Roland TD20 can access and play synthesizers, drum machines, etc, and has over 900 onboard drum and instrument sounds.
