Etosha National Park is a national park in northwestern Namibia. The park was proclaimed a game reserve on March 22, 1907, by Ordinance 88 by the German governor of South West Africa, Dr. Friedrich von Lindequist.Etosha National Park covers an area of 22270 km2 and is named after the large Etosha pan that is almost entirely within the park. The Etosha pan, covering 4760 km2, occupies 23% of the total area of the Etosha National Park.
