Bio: Pylant and Swartz Pylant
and Swartz: (The original bad boys of New Age Folk and Poetry). Pylant
was armed with a degree in Brit Lit (specialization on Romance Poets:
Byron, Keats, Shelley)and the ability to play in the Leo Kottke finger
picking style on 12-string complementing it with Elizabethan age spoken
word poetry. Swartz had a unique finger technique on congas that lended
itself to poetry. Pylant and Swartz were born from the break-up of the
Bahai Faith band "Jasmine" in Dallas-Fort Worth in 1974. The two moved
to Denver in 1975 to pursue their own blend of Folk/Jazz accompanied
with poetry. They recorded their first demo in 1975 and soon after meet
Betsy Lippitt from Cincinnati (vocals, violin, classical guitar, back vocalist with Dave Brubeck on Truth is FallenLP), with
whom they formed "Gypsy-Fire" and roamed the streets and clubs of Denver
and embarked on college tours in the mid-west (especially Ohio). On
one such tour, Pylant
addressed the governing body of student affairs
