  • A new edition of Pony Media is up as I review the second volume of the Melowy comic series. Even though MLP's Gen 4 is coming to a close this year (which saddens me), that doesn't mean we won't find anything pony related. Fortunately, I was able to find a couple between D'Lirium (the only mature pony title) and Melowy that follows the standards of Gen 4. For this second volume, there is a fashion event going on as Flora; a fashionista is holding tryouts for her club. Electra gets interested but believes she is not good enough to enter the contest. However, after being encouraged from her friends both Selena and Electra go together. Eris, who is a part of the fashion club plans to sabotage their efforts after finding a dark magic paint brush left inside her lounge by Circe (the Ruler's agent) secretly. The dark artifact is capable of stripping color from anyone and within Aura. Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/melowy-vol2-comic/melowy-voltwo-the-fashion-club-of-colors-review

  • A new area on my site called Gaming Entertainment is now live as its something I wanted to do for a while. For the review, Captain N sounds like a decent idea on paper when there were hardly any crossovers this massive in the 80s. There wasn't even a game from one platform to ever have such a concept. Remember kiddies this is way before Super Smash Bros was ever a thought and would be another decade until that became the newest crossover. The synopsis is about Video Land, a place connected to other worlds being attack by Mother Brain and her minions. The N-Team of Princess Lana of Video Land, Mega Man, Kid Icarus and Simon Belmont find themselves almost corned. That's when a prophecy told by the Power Glove in the Throne Room where Captain N will come to Video Land to save it from evil.Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/captain-n-the-game-master-season-one/captain-n-the-game-master-season-1-review

  • As everyone saw Square's showing at E3, many would agree it was the second best showcase in 2019. The Final Fantasy VII Remake was their biggest highlight as they showed the actual game with newer cut scenes of Tifa. However, it was their lineup with Nintendo's presentation that had me think further about this topic. The fact they are refocusing on the Mana series in such a big way (especially a remake of game that never came here) blew my mind. Square even brought the original released Trials of Mana here for the first time in a collection for us to experience. It brings me to one good question and is Square really making a comeback based on this year's E3? Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/could-square-be-making-a-come-back/could-square-enix-be-making-a-come-back

  • A new edition of Retro Corner is up, and we continue counting the days away to the release of Mortal Kombat 11 in April. Ever since Ed Boon and WB Interactive Entertainment got their wake-up call with the flop called Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe, the studio seems the best they ever were. All it took was Mortal Kombat 9's release in 2009 and that would jump-start the brand with a much-needed reboot. For this edition we check out Mortal Kombat II for the Arcade and released in 1993 by the defunct Midway. MKII has always been hailed as a true classic among the fans and many people still enjoy it even till this day. What makes the second game so special compared to the first? That's simple, and the sequel improved many features from the original that eclipsed MK1’s success.Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/mortal-kombat-ii/mortal-kombat-ii-arcade-review

  • A new edition of Retro Corner is up, and we check out the first Mortal Kombat for the Arcade. It's that time again as a new Mortal Kombat will be coming out this April marking the series' 11th installment. I sometimes can't believe it's been almost 30 years since MK debuted in 1992 for the Arcades. I use to remember how much parents were in a ridiculous uproar about the game. In fact that's why law makers in the US made the ESRB rating system due to the violent content. It's undoubtedly that the industry at the time did need a rating system as movies and TV already maintained one. MK would set a new standard along with Doom that jumped started the mature games popularity. It's funny how the characters didn't have good designs in these concepts by today's standards. Just take a look at the live action customs the actors wore during the recordings, they are literally laughable. Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/mortal-kombat/mortal-kombat-arcade-review

  • A new edition of Retro Arena just went live as the fight gets heated between two Doom ports. Like many have said for nearly three decades, Doom revolutionized the industry and created a new genre. The first game saw its development get handle by Randy Linden and his team for the Super NES. As mentioned many times, he would develop the Reality Engine solely to make the game work on the system. With the help of the Super FX2 Chip would make the impossible a reality (no pun intended). On the 32X, Carmack handle the port's direction with Sega's team to help bring the game to the Genesis' new add-on. The new technology as many of us have said was the Genesis on life support because the console was on its last two legs. However, will Doom Slayer thrive on the Super NES with its custom engine? Or is the 32X's extra power for Sega enough to become the true slayer? Let's find out...Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/doom-super-nes-vs-genesis-32x/doom-super-nes-vs-genesis-32x

  • An older edition of Retro Corner is available to view, and it's a review of Resident Evil 2 on the N64. After all these years Capcom finally remade the second Resident Evil for the current consoles. As for this review, I wrote this over two years ago during the Halloween season while going over the Ghosts N Goblins series. The N64 version was more enjoyable for me than the PS1 editions on many occasions. The fact I am playing RE2 on the N64 still blows my mind even till this day. Another thing I really loved was the exclusive features not found in any other edition like on the Dreamcast. I could go on about this port but let's save that for the review for obvious reasons. The port has really aged since the late 90s especially when RE3 produced a better game compared to its predecessor.Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/resident-evil-2/resident-evil-2-n64-review

  • A new edition of Retro Corner is up, and we come back to the Doom Slayer's first outing. As you already know, Doom needs no introduction as just like Mortal Kombat, it also would take its genre to new heights. It's the grandfather of FPSs and would take the genre further during the 90s. Lately, I have taken up playing Brutal Doom V21 and doing another session with the Doom Slayer Chronicles mod. Let's just say it's one of the best mods out there thanks to its beautiful rendered environments and macabre detail. Brutal Doom really enhances the gameplay in many ways from the extra guns to its modern mechanics. For this edition, we check out the Genesis 32X port during a time when it was literally put on most systems. However, can the life supporting add-on make this version more closely to the PC, unlike most ports?Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/doom-32x/doom-sega-genesis-32x-review

  • A new edition of Retro Corner is up as we take a look at the first Smash Bros on the N64. During the 90s, crossovers like the Verses Capcom series filled the arcades in gaming. Sure there were Battle Toads and Double Dragon probably the first one in gaming. However, Smash Bros also took this concept further outside the niche Capcom targeted with its verses series. Here's an interesting fact about the first game and Nintendo originally had no plans to bring this to North America. They apparently perceived it as some Mario Party spin-off at first. Something clearly changed their minds, but it weren't surprise me if Marvel verses Capcom convinced them. I'm sure there are many gamers who remember that funny commercial that got them into this series. I always looked forward to it on Kids WB when Pokemon aired during the afternoons after school.Link: retrogamerjunction.weebly.com/super-smash-bros/super-smash-bros-n64-reviewNote: Sorry for the other post with the "aaa". It was a simple typo.
