  • Went fishing in 57 degree Carnegie Lake yesterday evening during a nor'easter and in the rain. 6 other fishermen were there. I saw the 5 rod poacher catch and keep 2 brown bullheads on worms and a big white catfish on a shiner. The old Chinese couple from Staten Island, NY, caught and kept 4 and 3.5 lb largemouth bass and a big pickerel on shiners. Only one fishermen was left when I quit. It felt very cold in the strong wind. Rowers were on the lake. I saw banded Canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, adult bald eagle, ospreys, great blue herons, grebe, gulls, crows and blackbirds. Double crested cormorants were catching and eating fish in my spot. I only caught and released 4 black crappies to 10.5" on 1/32 oz tube jigs and 2 lb test line. I took pics. Duck Island power plant was still offline last night. I lost one lure on the bottom of the lake yesterday. Fresh water fishing in NJ is no good this year. The water is still too cold.
