The Moral Argument
The consenting/voluntary principle assures us that while we may have the possibility of choosing the worst, we also have the possibility of choosing the best. It provides us the opportunity to make things better, though it doesn't guarantee results. While it dictates that we do not force our idea of "better" on someone else, it protects us from having someone else's idea of "better" imposed on us by force. The use of coercion to compel virtue eliminates its possibility, for to be moral, an act must be uncoerced. If a person is compelled to act in a certain way (or threatened with government sanctions), there is nothing virtuous about his or her behavior. Freedom of choice is a necessary ingredient for the achievement of virtue. Whenever there is a chance for the good life, the risk of a bad one must also be accepted.
If you are against war, you are against military service. If you are against the action, but support those who carry out such an action, you are a silly hypocrite and have no right to be taken seriously in philosophical discourse.
Imagine if we applied the insanity of troop worship to other areas of life. Imagine if rape was excused because while we were opposed to rape, we supported the rapist. Imagine if we chose to give murderers a pass because while we conformed to the idea that murder was wrong, we can't hold the murderer accountable for his act.
This is the non-sense you're propagating when asserting the ridiculous notion of supporting the troops and opposing their vile, unnecessary wars they engage in. If you support the troops you are pro-war.
this thing you call the us dollar it creates debt by being used. by being printed you are charged interest on 1$ right? so how do you pay off the interest? you have to create more money. in creating it you..create more debt/interest. so every time you get a paycheck you just increased the national debt. paid off your bill..increased the debt. got paid overtime.. increased the debt. your money is fake and worse than worthless, it has been used to make slaves of you and your children.
Show morethe rules of any society (a legally recognized membership club) can't be imposed on those who do not consent and who do not accept its benefits. If there is no option to opt out you are a slave. And opting out of a fictional jurisdiction doesn't mean leaving the land on which you were born.
Show moreProtectionism is a misnomer. The only people protected by tariffs, quotas and trade restrictions are those engaged in uneconomic and wasteful activity. Free trade is the only philosophy compatible with international peace and prosperity.
Show moreThe foundational tenets of Voluntaryism are property rights, self-ownership, and non-aggression. If you believe that a god owns everything on the planet, you are rejecting property rights. If you believe that a god owns you or others, you are rejecting self-ownership. If you believe that humans can justifiably initiate force against other humans at the command of a god, you are rejecting the non-aggression principle. This is why Christians, Muslims, Jews (etc) are not voluntaryists.
