Janumet XR tablets are taken when a person has type 2 diabetes. It contains two active ingredients: sitagliptin and metformin hydrochloride extended-release. Sitagliptin is an active inhibitor of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 enzyme (DPP-4 enzyme) and used to coat the extended-release metformin hydrochloride core tablet. Each tablet contains 64.25mg sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate, which is equal to 50mg sitagliptin as free base.
