British producer wants to stay “By Your Side” to shower you with tropical beats.
He’s Hardly Ever Blue
Blue may be a code name for sad, but listening to Jonas Blue’s uplifting party-ready tunes vaporizes any melancholy from the room in a heartbeat (or should we say a house beat?). Just like his music, the artist who’s making it is hardly ever sad. But what does he do when that rare moment of sadness occurs? “Drink a cup of tea, listen to some R&B... Hey, that rhymes!”
He’s an Early Bloomer
Just like many contemporary producers, Jonas Blue knew who he was destined to become early on. “I knew I wanted to become a musician when I was seven. But my friends in school somehow convinced me that being a musician was very uncool, and the next best thing was to become a DJ. So by the time I was 11, I was already DJing. I eventually started watching a program about Ibiza’s Club 18-30, and that was basically an intro for me to dance music. Listening to the likes of David Guetta and Erick Morillo helped me realize that was exactly what I wanted to do. After a while, I also realized I wanted to start making the music that I was playing.”
You Won’t Hear Him Sing
Unlike Calvin Harris, Jonas Blue has zero plans to stand in front of the mic. “I’m the world’s worst singer. I’m a musician, but not a singer, so it's a firm no.”
He’s Fast & Furious
Considering his big break was a dance cover of Tracy Champman’s “Fast Car,” we felt inclined to ask how comfortable Jonas Blue feels while driving a fast car himself. “I do love fast cars. I don’t drive anywhere anymore, but if I could choose, it would be a Ferrari or a Lamborghini.”
