British producer wants to stay “By Your Side” to shower you with tropical beats.

There’s no shortage of marimba-heavy pop songs on the radio these days. Yes, we’re talking about the ongoing tropical house craze. One of the people who have been riding the tropical wave higher than most last year was British house producer Jonas Blue. With his natural talent for crafting sun-soaked beats and catchy melodies, Jonas Blue rose to the top of the charts and doesn’t plan to rest in the shade any time soon. Before he becomes a household name, here's 10 things you should know about the up-and-coming producer.

He’s Got a Make Up Person Now

When we call Jonas Blue, he’s in London getting ready for a shoot. “I’m getting full-on make up done right now,” the 27-year-old producer (whose real name is Guy James Robin) tells us over the phone. His makeup lady tells us hi and Jonas promises us that by the time she’s done working her magic with brushes, he’ll be looking “very orange and very glamorous.” He does deserve all the extra primping now since his life changed dramatically over the course of 2016.

He’s Got Three Hit Singles

By now Jonas Blue has established himself as one of the most promising commercial house producers in the game with a string of tropical-flavored bangers. All three of his singles, “Fast Car,” “Perfect Strangers” and “By Your Side” were inescapable last year way beyond his native London. “There were many highlights last year. Cracking the top 5 with 'Fast Car,' playing Pacha and Urshuaia at Ibiza.”

Next goal, in his own words, is “to play Glastonbury.”

He’s Not a Fourth Jonas Brother

Despite his stage name, Jonas Blue has no relation to Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas. “The music I was making originally was very different to the Jonas Blue sound. So I knew I had to create a new artist name. I was also DJing before I started producing and a lot of music that I was playing was coming from Sweden. And I had this idea of taking a classic Swedish name: Jonas. A friend of mine offered a Calvin Klein spin-off, Jonas Klein. But for me it didn’t sound quite right. I shot a music video for my previous project and the lead actress’ name was Tuesday. I thought it would be cool to call myself Jonas Monday or Jonas Tuesday, but it didn’t quite sound right either. I was out once, going to my normal job at the time and had this random idea that it can be a color. I went through all of the colors: Jonas Orange, Jonas Green, and finally came up with Jonas Blue. It totally clicked.”
