Australian DJ duo discusses on-the-road lifestyle, pizza for breakfast and all.

If you don’t have any plans for the first weekend of September, you better catch the next flight to London because you don’t want to miss iconic club Ministry of Sound’s 25th anniversary. Friday September 2 will see Australian twin duo Liv and Mim from NERVO rocking The Gallery with their always extra-energetic set.

We caught Mim in the airport to discuss everything from wanting to play back-to-back with Diplo to becoming superheroes behind the decks and chocking a fire in the middle of their set.

So what do you usually do when you get stuck in the airport?

We usually just work. ‘Cause if you work, then time flies a little faster. And then I can get to the hotel and sleep.

Do you get to sleep on the plane at all?

Yeah, I’ve got my travel pillow and everything. I’ve become a professional airplane napper.

That’s good. What’s been the highlight of this summer so far?

Oh it’s such a hard question…

I’ve seen you play Sensation Moscow, that must’ve been quite a remarkable gig for you…

Oh yeah, it’s always fun playing as Sensation. It’s just so nice to be in Europe. It’s so lovely to fly all around and feel the different cultures and have the sunshine on our backs. Eat pizza for breakfast or lunch and then borsch for dinner.

That’s a good unhealthy diet, I like it!

Haha, yeah.

Tell me about upcoming Ministry of Sound anniversary, which you’re playing in London in September.

We’re honored to be asked to play there for that event. Especially because Ministry of Sound is so iconic, we’ve played there a few times and can honestly say that the British crowd is great. They get crazy all the time. We’ve can’t wait for this gig — it’s gonna be extra special.

When are we getting a new single or an album?

We’ve just released a new single in July called “People Grinnin’” and it features The Child of Lov. And then we have jam-packed six or even eight months of releases coming up. Keeping busy!

You’ve had Kylie Minogue guest star on your single. What other pop divas would you love to work with?

Ah, so many! The list goes on and on. Lauryn Hill would be great. Erykah Badu, I’ve heard her on the radio the other day. I heard Sade on the radio, too, and that would be very cool to work with her.

I’d love that: “Smooth Operator 2.0.”

Oh, could you imagine?!

I once saw you play Sziget festival with Martin Garrix. Who else would you like to spin with?

I love what Diplo does. He plays completely different sets to what we do, which we really enjoy. It would be fun to do a back-to-back with him. Skrillex as well; he’s incredible. I love DJ Snake. And I’d love to do a back-to-back with Solomun.

What DJ is the best to drink with?

Oh God, so many! I think Mike from Dimitry Vegas & Like Mike is great. Robin Schultz, definitely! There are so many fun people. That’s the best thing of our job — we meet so many fun people.

What’s the craziest thing that ever happened during one of your sets?

Well you’re asking me after a night of no sleep, so let me think for a bit… We played at Pacha La Pineda in Tarragona, Spain, and one of the club’s effects, the fire, caught fire. Liv and I had some Gatorade bottles at the bottom of our CDJs, so we were lucky. We just sprayed the fire and it went out.

Good job! What are your favorite clubs?

New York’s Space is super cool. There’s no VIP there, which is awesome. Pacha in Ibiza is iconic, pretty and feels like a different place.

What’s your guilty pleasure right now?

Pizza for breakfast, lots of tea.

What’s your Summer 16 anthem?

I’ll just go through our Tomorrowland set. Definitely our single “People Grinnin’.” “Faded” went really well whenever we played it. So these two.
