South Carolina trio takes a late relative's poetry and turns it into gold.
While other songwriters take past experiences as inspiration for their music, Dear Blanca tapped into something much deeper with their song, "Out of View."
"'Out Of View' is the first tune I wrote for this record, which is comprised of songs inspired by or adapted from a collection of poems and lyrics by Scott Crane, our bassist Cam Powell's late uncle," lead singer and guitarist Dylan Dickerson tells Myspace. "This song is my adaptation of some of Crane's musings on lost love and the search for purpose in the midst of personal conflict."
Dylan also adds, "Crane's writing is drenched in despair but I was particularly drawn to the moments of clarity that produced his most poignant lines. 'Out Of View' is the result of time spent mulling over Crane's words to form my own interpretation of his state of mind while staying true to his artistic direction."
"Out of View" wasn't the only tune that was inspired by Scott Crane's words. It also helped the band write the rest of the songs on their upcoming EP, To Tell A Half-Truth, which is set to release on September 16 via Post-Echo.
