This week we recap the 'Game of Thrones' finale and speculate on the future of our favorite show.

Every week I'll be here to reveal and review some of my favorite moments from the internet. Whether it be bingeing television shows, streaming sports, or simply getting lost in a YouTube rabbit hole, I'm here to give you my top picks every Friday, as well as the perfect paring to get into an optimal headspace for themThis week, we're applauding a fantastic Game of Thrones finale and trying to decide what we do with ourselves until Season 7 starts.

Winter is Here

Recommended Pairing:
A heavy handed pour of rum into our hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.

Holy shit. That was a fun finale, huh?

The first 25 minutes had me wide-eyed and frozen at the edge of the sofa, my medulla oblongata fighting a sensory overload to force breath into my pale, soft body. Then Tommen walked right out the window and everyone in the world totally lost their collective shit.

Count me as one of the millions who made this joke to cut the tension in the room, "I guess that's why they call it King's Landing."

I'm well aware of recency bias and hyperbole, but I still think this was the best season finale I have ever seen. It was drenched in fan service for both book-first fans and TV only fans, easter eggs, superb acting, directing and sound design, as well as the official announcement that winter has indeed come.

Let's go over a few of the best parts.

1) The Music

The score that Ramin Djawadi put together to bring us in to the relative calm of the beginning of the episode all the way up to the first blast of that now familiar Ghostbuster green wildfire captured perfectly the twisted mind of Cersei and her plan for revenge on the High Sparrow and his followers. Congratulations on your Emmy, Ramin. You deserved it.

2) The Direction

Miguel Sapochnik took the reigns of a fairly up and down sixth season and drove home two of the best episodes the series has ever had. The pacing, the action, the winks to the viewers—everything just came together perfectly and set up a real feeling that the series is ready to live up to all of the mountains of hype we have heaped onto it. Miguel Sapochnik is everything right about Game of Thrones. The beauty; the deftly laid plots and foreshadowing; the battles that transcend a television viewing experience. He's the reason we're allowed to have such lofty expectations for this show. This is the same man responsible for saving last season from the Sand Snakes in Dorne with up to last night, my favorite episode of the show, "Hardhome."  Yet, we just learned that he won't be back to take the helm for a single episode next season. That's a real shame.

3. Confirmation

In this episode all of the super-nerds celebrated gleefully at the confirmation of R+L = J, the long standing fan theory that the bastard Jon Snow was actually the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Bran "rolled his eyes" at a tree and we all watched as the prophesy was fulfilled. Notice the way the camera lingered on the sword Ned rested on the bed? I doubt that was a coincidence

4. The Shushing of the Sand Sankes

Lyanna Mormont, the badass preteen leader of Bear Island, stole a few scenes in the past couple of episodes, but the best bit of fan service came from a much older badass, Olenna Tyrell. In an episode where we had to do a quick visit to everyone's least favorite Westerosi location, Lady Olenna laid the absolute smack down. Then Varys wrapped it all up nicely for us. (Before teleporting them all back to the sea. JK.)

5. The Details

There were so many little details that we finally got to witness, but the one that most people glossed over was Samwell's arrival at the Citadel. His reaction to the receptionist—or whoever that guy was—was great, but when we finally got to see the library it really gave us all a sense of how rich this world is in history. Sam finally is in a place where he feels like he belongs. Fantastic.

But one thing struck me and I've only seen it covered a few places online.

You know in the beginning of the show, when the intro plays there's this bright burning sun disk with rings rotating around it with all of the house sigils? This thing:

Well we saw it again when Samwell walked into the middle of the library. Check it out:

The show went a full six seasons before giving us a few seconds look at the very first thing we saw when tuning in. That's an impressive nod to details, and incredible foresight. i love this show.

So what do we do in the year before the Season 7 premiere?

I don't know. I guess speculate wildly? That's always fun.

Here we go...

Cleganbowl still happens. The Hound fights the Mountain so Jaime has a chance to murder Cersei.

When the Knight King busts through the wall I will straight up cake my pants if there are spiders.

Hot Pie and Arya take their business west of Westeros.

Til next time!
