It took this Long Island-based singer a whole year to follow-up her debut self-titled EP with a new single, but it was surely worth the wait. “Tidal Wave” hit us with enough hooks and dancey bits to carry us through winter and make the prospect of more music from EVVY even more exciting. The self-proclaimed party girl makes summery pop tunes that are catchy and effortless at the same time. Where do we sign up for EVVYlution of the pop world?!

Where does your stage name come from?

EVVY is a variation of Eve, derived from the Latin and Hebrew language which translates as “living, life… to live”.

You call your music "ethereal swag." Who came up with that term?

I came up with it one day, instead of just calling it pop music I gave it a bit more mystery. It’s has a sort of free flowing vibe to its sound yet still grounded. I usually tend to write a more uplifting/ hopeful message in a song even through loss and heartache. Just trying to spread those positive vibes.

How would you describe your relationship with music? An effortless fling? A secret love affair? Healthy partnership? A bittersweet romance?

Healthy Partnership.

Considering you have a song called “Tidal Wave,” do you enjoy spending time by the water? Maybe surf a little?

I LOVE spending time at the beach. I do not surf, not sure how well that would go for me… Maybe I’ll learn. I do love to snorkel and discover life under the surface.

“Tidal Wave” was featured on the Spotify Princess Leia playlist, which is pretty much an achievement of galactic proportions. Were you excited? And could you imagine being a space warrior princess yourself?

I was SO excited, I was at this music event and I got a text from a friend and I didn’t understand what they were talking about until I looked it up. I totally could imagine myself as a space princess warrior, I love everything about space!

The best advice anyone ever gave you?

Hmmm… I’ve been given a lot of great advice. I think most recently a friend said, “...you are here, there is no going backwards, you can either stay where you are or move forward.” Every day we are learning and growing to be a better version of ourselves.

What does a perfect day look like in your world?

A perfect day is hanging out on a tropical island or traveling overseas with minimal cell phone service and embracing the moment… Okay... Maybe I need a vacation!

You’re wearing headbands quite a lot. How many of those do you actually own? And any advices on how to properly rock a headband?

I am not sure how many I have, I used to purchase them but then I was inspired one day to use extra sparkly fabric I had from a photo shoot and wrapped it around my head… It saved me money and I was able to get creative.

You’re in the process of recording your new EP. What should we know about it and when will we be able to hear it?

Right now I am in a ton of writing sessions, between LA and NY and wherever else the universe decides to send me. You’ll hear new music hopefully by summer/fall… Expect to hear a lot of growth and the unexpected.

Your music makes me want to get up and head to the nearest dancefloor. Are you a big party girl yourself?

YAS! I do love to party, if there is music then I’ll make my own dance floor. However, I do like to chill somewhere scenic or at a bar with close friends from time to time.

Let’s imagine you’ve been given an unlimited budget to orchestrate a gig of your dreams. What would it look like?

UNLIMITED?! That is the dream! If I went into detail we’d end up having a book by the end of this interview… It would massive, an epic journey for the fans visually and emotionally… A concert in space would be cool though…

Do you have a game plan for 2016?

Aside from writing, my team and I are preparing for an exciting year of new music and shows etc… EVVYlution!
