In fact, she should have already become a household name this past year, but as long as she gets there eventually, all will be alright. The singer-songwriter, who is still just a teenager, has already scored four No. 1 hits in her home country of Sweden, and many of those crossed over to other territories as well. Sometimes all it takes is one moment of the right person hearing a song, and a star is born (or at least on her way). Maggie Rogers played her song “Alaska” for Pharrell Williams while he was speaking at New York University, where she was in school, and it struck him immediately. A video of the Grammy winner in tears due to the beauty of Rogers’ single sealed her fate, and in the months since, the song has gone viral on Spotify. Expect great things from her, even if she never becomes a chart-topper.
