From Miley Cyrus to Kelly Clarkson, here are five artists you wouldn't think would be into Lana Del Rey (but are).

Lana Del Rey tends to elicit strong reactions from people. Her fans love her soulful, sultry brand of cinematic pop music, while her detractors spew criticism about her complete personal and professional transformation from Lizzy Grant to Lana Del Rey. In fact, Lana has recently received negative attention from Francis Bean Cobain after sharing her comments about romanticizing death, and Kim Gordon regarding her disinterest in feminism. But Elizabeth Woolridge Grant projects no shame, and neither do some of her fiercest famous fans. Today, on the day that the 30-year old singer releases her new album Honeymoon, we’re spotlighting five unlikely fans of Lana Del Rey.

The Weeknd

Abel Tesfaye, more commonly known as The Weeknd, dropped his second studio album Beauty Behind The Madness last month. And on the R&B-inspired piano ballad “Prisoner,” Del Rey chimes in with guest vocals. As Tesfaye, a Canadian producer and songwriter, told Pitchfork last month, “Me and Lana have been friends for a long time. I’ve inspired her, she’s inspired me. I feel like we’ve always been talking to each other through our music. She is the girl in my music, and I am the guy in her music. It’s just this ghostly collaboration that feels the most natural on the whole album.”

Kelly Clarkson

Having won the first season of American Idol in 2002, Kelly Clarkson is a bona fide pop star of the Millennial generation. But Clarkson’s most famous tunes like “Miss Independent” and “Since U Been Gone” lean closer to bubblegum pop rock than Del Rey’s version of brooding pop. So when Clarkson covered “Off To The Races” from Del Rey’s 2012 debut Born To Die in Las Vegas last month, she convinced us all of her fandom.

Uncle Meg

This up-and-coming genderqueer rapper got her start as part of the Brooklyn-based collective Hand Job Academy. The trio has raised eyebrows and garnered attention for their irreverent, gross, and mostly hilarious songs about periods and sharks and actresses and pop culture. But Meg, who released her debut solo EP Dangerfield earlier this week, recently told Bitch Magazine that she thinks the much mellower Del Rey is a, “poetic genius.

Christina Aguilera

From Mouseketeer to Britney competitor to Xtina to bionic woman to generally acclaimed modern-day diva, Christina Aguilera has seen her share of change and adaptation in the music biz. By the time Del Rey hit airwaves with the pouty, string-accented “Video Games” in 2011, Aguilera was already metamorphosing to mature TV host and esteemed coach on The Voice. Just before hitting the road again in 2012, Aguilera told Lance Bass that she was listening to some Lana Del Rey songs on the road, illustrating how the pop queen stays on top of the game. Check it out around 4:15.

Miley Cyrus

Another controversial artist, Miley Cyrus is more recognized for swinging on cannon balls, twerking on Robin Thicke and, most recently, dropping secret albums. But the pop star can actually sing, too, and her contra-alto range works perfectly for this cover of “Summertime Sadness” that she chose to perform in the Live Lounge on BBC Radio 1 in 2013.
