This London trio’s infectious pop grooves are getting ready to debut more feel-good music on 'Prologue.'

It wouldn’t surprise us if Life of Dillon’s catchy, happy single “Overload” will become 2015’s ubiquitous song of the summer. The London-based dance trio, signed to Epic/Disruptor Records, is set to release its debut Prologue. David Keiffer and brothers Joe and Rob Griffith describe their music as “acoustic house” to people who’ve never heard it before, which makes sense; something about Life of Dillon’s vibe bring soul and raw energy to electronic music.

Hometown:

David: “I grew up in a town called Deal in England. Joe and Rob grew up in Fortaleza, London and Lagos.”

Current residence:

Rob: “We all live together in London.”

I know Joe and Rob are brothers, but how did you meet David?

Joe: “David and I met eight years ago in boarding school. That summer I introduced David to Rob and we haven’t stopped making music since.”

Why Life of Dillon as a band name?

David: “It actually came to us very easily. We had all this music, which sort of made the band, rather than the band that made the music. After a trip to visit Joe and Rob’s family in Brazil, we met a guy called Dillon, who for us really embodied the nature of our music, with his free-spirited, take-life-by-the-horns attitude. We felt his personality suited the positive, energetic vibe of the songs.”

Speaking of your positive, happy vibe, what inspires your music?

Rob: “Art imitates life, our experiences mixed with our ambitions are what really drive the emotion behind our songs! Back in our make-shift studios in London, we surround ourselves with images of paradise and places we would love to visit.”

Did you all grow up in musical households? What were the first instruments you played?

Joe: “We did! My mum supported Rob’s hobby as a producer, and so his computer was his first instrument. I would sing over his beats and so my voice was my first instrument. David’s mum was trained as a classical pianist and his dad made music instruments, so he always had an array of guitars and banjos lying around the house. He took to the guitar first.”

Does being in a band with your brother make it easier or harder to write songs?

Rob: “We have all been writing together for so long, we understand how to give each other our space. It makes to so much easier to write songs together when you have chemistry and you know exactly where each others heads are at.”

Talk about your musical epiphany—that moment when you realized you wanted to create and perform music for the rest of your life.

David: Collectively I would say we always wanted to create and perform music from early ages, but four years ago while we were all studying at university, Joe and Rob’s older brother got a Top 5 track in the U.K. It was around then we all realized we could actually do what we love to do! That became our focus from then on, and we never lost sight of our goal to share our music with the world and perform for huge crowds.

Aside from family, who would you love to collaborate with?

Rob: Ellie Goulding, Tori Kelly, The Weeknd, Sam Smith … the list goes on. There’s so many great artists out there right now!

“Overload” is such an amazing song. What inspired it?

Joe: Overload is all about the breaking point at which you change your focus in life. For me, this was last year when I realized, I had been out of university for almost two years and not made a penny. I didn’t want to follow a regular path so I kept going with the music, but we changed our approach, and now we are in America living the dream!

What's your biggest dream for 2015?

David: To play at Coachella!
