"Everyone who got asked to sing on our album has an important part in our lives."

Coldplay's new album A Head Full of Dreams features two unexpected guests. One, Gwyneth Paltrow, split from frontman Chris Martin last year after a decade of marriage. The other, Jay Z and Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy Carter, is 3 years old. But Coldplay was inspired by Rumi's "The Guest House," a poem that is often recited at meditation retreats, to make its music as inclusive as possible.

"Everyone who got asked to sing on our album has an important part in our lives," Chris says to The Wall Street Journal.

Fortunately, both guests have had prior experience with music. Gwyneth has covered Smokey Robinson with Huey Lewis, released the single "Country Strong" and sang Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" on Glee. Meanwhile, you can hear Blue Ivy cry in Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail and speak in Beyoncé's 2013 self-titled album (below).

A Head Full of Dreams is out, coincidentally, on Jay Z's birthday: December 4.
