The New Heathens are:
Butch Phelps - Guitars/Vocals
Nate Schweber - Singer/Songwriter/Guitars/Harmonica
Domenick Tiziano - Guitars/Vocals
Brandy Wood - Bass/Vocals/Riverdance
Eric Seftel - Drums
Influences
We're influenced by the Rolling Stones, Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, Warren Zevon, the Bottle Rockets, the Backsliders, Eric "Roscoe" Ambel, the BoDeans, the Jawhawks, Wilco, Golden Smog, Chuck Berry and a heap of others but not Uriah Heap (ok, maybe a couple of us but we were just experimenting).
Too country for the rockers and too rock for the country folks! The New Heathens are a New York City band with a solid foothold in rootsy rock ’n’ roll and a mix of country, folk and just a smidge of psychedelia all wrapped in skillfully crafted songs and strong lyrics.
Heralded (notorious) around the northeast for their energetic live shows, the New Heathens have shared stages with Old Crow Medicine Show, Jim Lauderdale, Chip Robinson (of the Backsliders) and Eric "Roscoe" Ambel (of the Yayhoos, Del-Lords and Steve Earle’s Dukes)
With members hailing from as far west as Montana, as far east as Massachusetts and places in between, they are brought together over their love of songs made when two guitars, bass and drums combine with good melodies, harmonies and lyrics.
I need a Heathen fix and I can't get to Baltimore! (I'll be in New Orleans) Ah well...I'll be thinking of you guys on my birthday. Light up a rain coat and burn it in effigy for me will, ya Nate?
To quote Nate "I love Baltimore" - and to quote myself "especially when the New Heathens are playing the Waterfront"! It was a great girls night out! Glad we were able to work it around the show. Had a BLAST!
Dudes, We're playing B.B. King's with the GB's on May 18th. You guys should come out and we'll drink a few beers. Also we are going to be in NYC for a few days, we should have another New Heathens and OLC rockfest. Let's do it! -Andy
You ROCKED! at Goodbye Blue Monday's the other night - ALWAYS a blast seeing all of you and checking out new venues AND new performers. Having a hard time explaining the t-shirt I bought! LOL!
I wanted to let you know, I'm hosting 15 MINUTES OF FAME - a FULL BAND (or solo!) Open Mic - and I would love it if you came to play! It starts on Wednesday Feb 27th, runs from 8 to Midnight (sign-up at 7:30) & is at Kenny's Castaways (157 Bleecker).
NATE! now I'm almost as famous as you now in Missoula -lol. I made the front page of the "Montana" section of the Missoulian today and all three news stations last night at both the 6 and 10/11 times How do you deal with the celebrity of it all? j/k -I am kind of embarrassed by it all you shoulda been here!
Hey Nate & All Dear Heathens, Can't wait to hear you on the 31st at Banjo Jim's! Especially if it Only Gets Better...that's a kickass track. Keep 'em comin'! Jamie Lyn
I just heard the new recording of "It only get's better". It sounds so much clearer. New Heathens are getting a lot of air play on my radio show and requests. Keep up the exquisite work,
Thanks for the comment! I miss NYC and the New Heathens. Looks like I might be that way in March for a fundraising event that I'm donating some of my designs for. Hopefully I'll get a chance to catch up with NH!! Keep it rocking. ~Mistie
