The Kung Fu Girls are a Pop Rock band based out of Long Island, New York. The Kung Fu Girls are Mia Koo (lead vocals and guitar), 18, and Ava Koo (vocals, lead guitar, and keys), 19. The sisters have toured and played all over, from The Viper Room (California) to The Knitting Factory (NYC) and these girls mean business. They have been on the front page of purevolume 5 times, getting more plays than Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, Hello Goodbye, Underoath, and many other bands on purevolume. They have had about 400,000 plays on myspace, over 30,000 downloads of their single "Thinking of You" on purevolume and about 450,000 plays on purevolume. Their full length record "Thinking Of You" (Produced by Tom Higgenson of Plain White T's) has been released on Shining Star Records this past fall, showing all the critics what it really means to be a Kung Fu Girl. The girls just finished a headlining US tour, a tour with The Frantic and Treaty of Paris, and another tour with Plain White T's and Mae. The girls have extensive tour experience and have toured from New York City to LA over 3 times on tours they booked themselves. They have sold over 2,000 copies of their full length, self released album "Thinking of You."
Mia Koo, 18, has written with "Plain White T's", and Ido Zmishlany from "Last Week" and many other artists. She sang/cowrote on two of the songs off of the "Plain White T's" new record "Every Second Counts" tracks titles "Our Time Now" which is their new upcoming single and the opening theme for the television show "GREEK" on ABC Family, and also wrote a track on their record called "Gimme a Chance. " She also was asked by the lead singer of Motion City Sound Track, Justin (a HUGE Kung Fu Girls supporter) to start a side project band with the drummer of Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer on drums and Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 on bass about a year ago. She was also just offered a publishing deal with Universal Records, to spread her talent and write for other artists. Mia has also been asked to cowrite with Juliet Simms band "Automatic Love Letter" by Alison Hagendorf (A&R) of Epic Records multiple times.
The Girls also produce all kinds of artists and bands. They produced the band "Airdate" who's song they sing on, wrote, and produced was featured on MTV's "The Hills." They are also recording/producing buzz band "Call it a Night" next month after their East Coast Tour.
The Kung Fu Girls were also recently added to the APA Roster a few months ago, working with Craig Newman at APA who books Plain White T's, Forever the Sickest Kids, Mayday Parade, The Morning Light, Stacy Clark, and now The Kung Fu Girls. They were also offered to be on FATA's roster prior to being under APA aswell.
