Renowned as one of the most prolific djs in the business due to his wildly popular Rock the Casbah 80s parties, host of the longest running Hip Hop weekly in Texas, a Finalist in the 2004 Scion Free Your Mix contest, regularly touring across North America, all the while holding down his position as Hip Hop buyer for the hugely successful Waterloo Records in Austin Tx.
"A flawless mixer, Mel always makes it a point to demonstrate the similarities between divergent styles of music, whether segueing A Tribe Called Quest into Black Sabbath, or a 50 Cent a cappella track over a Nine Inch Nails instrumental. An avid a crate digger, Mel traverses the vinyl archives for anything apt to make people bug out - physically, mentally, emotionally. I throw a monthly event called SWOLL. One of the finer events in Texas, it focuses on everything in the higher bpm range and things that facilitates full-on debauchery.
