The Left burst out of Hagerstown, MD in 1983 like a supernova only to implode two years later after the release of their infamous 12" EPS, Hell, It's the World! and Last Train to Hagerstown. Their Punk sound rooted in both 60s Garage and Hardcore Punk owed a lot to both the Sonics and Stooges as well as their out of the way Western Maryland locale. Outsiders and outcasts in their desolate hometown, they arose out of the ashes of the Embryonic Magnetos and first surfaced with a melodic, tuneful blast of hate, the great "You're So" which appeared on Bona Fide's Train to Disaster comp in 1983.
The following year saw the release of the now classic debut LP--Hell It's the World!--a 14 minute slab of unbridled energy, raw emotion, and lots of guitar!
Soon they would follow with their second LP Last Train to Hagerstown--another hard rockin kick ass rock n roll record in the spirit of the Stooges. The band broke up before the LP was released, but did reform in 92 to cut 4 more tunes which have remained unrleased till now! Bona Fide Records is proud to present "Jesus Loves the Left"--a compilation of all 20 songs the Left recorded in the studio--their 1st recording from the Train to Disaster, both their LPs, and the songs cut in 92. This deluxe edition has been remastered with extra care, and lots of rare photos and new liner notes!
Yes, my friends, before all the cookie cutter punk and disposable my space bands, there was REAL PUNK ROCK coming out of Hagerstown MD and we got all the filth and the fury right here! The Left CD is out NOW, and you can preview it now here and also on the Bona Fide Records My Space.

Are you guys ever gonna do a reunion? Cause I was way to young to see you guys play in the day. Plus for the past year i've been trying to get my band to cover 5AM.
as a seattle worshipping 18/19 year old fredneck in 1992, who just that year discovered punk rock really didnt end in the late seventies, seeing the Left at the Rabbit's Foot was an unforgettable experience. who knew that there was a band in my hometown that was worth a shit.
the bass player complained the mic smelled "of curry" then fell back drunk into his bass rig, the lead singer sprayed cheese into his face and then removed it with someones cup of beer, then proceeded to pinch a waitresses on the ass while breaking the table he was dancing on, all the while the guitar player playing fast as fuck going from rhythm to lead in a split second and then back again.
ill never forget me and my friend sitting there with our mouths open and eyes wide. we looked at each other and said "let's learn to play something and start a band!"
just bought the new cd and it is great to hear it finally without all the crakles and pops! now Bonafide needs to put out the Voodoo Love Gods first record with "Charlie's Children" and "Cruel World" on it. that was good shit!
Thanks for making the trip from Hagerstown to various halls and holes in central PA (probably some Mike Rage affair or another) when I was just a young'un. Believe it or not, I actually consider you guys an influence even to this day.
