Sounds Like
nuclear-pop, gutter-pop, trash-pop, whatever. You tell us:
The Armed Forces is an experiment in improvisation, imagination, and insanity fronted by Brandon Jazz, the infamous singer/troublemaker of Memphis-based art-punk group Brooklyn Uk. With help from an assortment of losers, musicians, and drug addicts (a.k.a. his best friends), Jazz is proud to present "Modern Gospel For Modern Men & Women", a 12 and a half minute, 5-song EP about dangerous living, graffiti, one-night stands, criminal exploits, bad habits, bad decisions, freedom fighting, scene politics, and equal parts romantic optimism and cynicism.
The debut EP bridges the sonic gap between the frenetic energy of punk music and the classical soul sounds of Motown-era pop music, and it features guest appearances from some of Nashville's best new talent. Appearances include Jon Decious (The Pink Spiders, Dixie Whiskey), Duane Arnett (The Casual), Shawn Zorn (Brooklyn Uk, Japanda), Travis Hass (Brooklyn UK), Matt Brown (To High Heaven), Chelsea Marie (The Chelsea Marie Experience) and others. Recorded by Andrija Tokic (The Outlaw Lovers, Dixie Whiskey, tons more) at The Bomb Shelter in a couple days in July/August.
The result? Quite possibly the world's most dangerous pop band. Check it out and decide for yourself.
