A veritable benchmark of Australian electro / breaks music, Soma Rasa's gig list reads like a who's who of International and Australian electronica. Quickly signed to Valve Records after their first gig in 1997 they released their first self titled E.P gaining instant national attention through Triple J Radio, reviewed in Rolling Stone (Australia) and a huge demand for the live show across the country. It was a support slot for Moby on his 1999 Australian tour that sparked it all off, since then the names speak for themselves. Amongst a plethora of others, the indomitable Hazard Brothers have shared bills with the likes of Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Moby, Roni Size, Roots Manuva, Will White, Plump Djs, and The Freestylers. Their Australian festival credits include Livid, Homebake and 7 appearances at The Big Day Out.
Their debut album I Mix Therefore I Am was released in 2000 through Warners to critical acclaim scoring high rotation on national radio and securing Soma Rasa as one of Australias most promising dance acts for the new decade. Receiving a massive demand for international supports along the east coast Soma Rasa spent most of the following 2 years touring Australia and locked in their studio bunker. With the release of On The Run in 2003 on their newly formed label Freefall Records, two more songs were added to high rotation on national radio Triple J. The summer breaks favorite I Like It and the electro pulse of Something Wicked set a slate for a fresh and progressive sound to become clear; a sound that sought to unite their dance floor methodology with a greater sense of musicality, song writing and sonic maturity.
All has culminated and 2003 sore Soma Rasa rising fast to become Australias 1 live dance act having played all of the major Festivals circuits including Big Day Out (7 years running), countless national tours and sold out club shows throughout Australia.
In June 05 Soma Rasa met and recorded with legendry L.A. hip-hop act Digital Underground (Shock G, Money B and Metaphysical) while they were on tour in Australia and in July 2005 they released the single "Say What You Say". The upshot of their recent collaboration is a humming electro masterpiece. Spending 12 weeks in the AIR charts, the track is a true meeting of the minds DU and Soma Rasa collaborating to devise a pulsing dance floor anthem. Since the release of this single Soma Rasa have undergone 2 National tours in Australia totaling 35 live shows. Off the back of Big Day Out Festival 2006 Soma Rasa jetted of on tour to the U.S. as part of Musexpo Conference in Los Angeles performing massive shows at The Roxy with guests Digital Underground and also at The Key Club's exclusive Plush Lounge.

Reviewed by In The Mix (Australia)
Soma Rasa then took it upon themselves to ease the jarred sensibilities of the dance crowd by putting on a set bursting with energy. Both the music and the crowd went off in a frenzy not unlike the antics of a raver on a methamphetamine crank (actually, now that I think about it…). The music was sharp, the vocals were on the money and the overall effect was lost on none. Soma Rasa easily inspired, by far, the biggest and longest-lasting dance-pit of the day.
REVIEW : BIG DAY OUT FESTIVAL (Australia) 2006
W/ REVIEWED BY TIME OFF (Brisbane, Australia)
Soma Rasa's crazy fusion and high energy makes for an addictive live show. The scratches, rasta-like dancehall vocals and rich rhymes punch out at a growing peak, leaving you no choice but to jump around. Lead by the Hazard brothers, this Brissie combo can take any track and swith it up to something that everone can rave or break to.
REVIEW : BIG DAY OUT FESTIVAL (Australia) 2006
W/ REVIEWED BY SCENE MAGAZINE (Brisbane, Australia)
Drifting toward the shores of Appolo 440 with their latest works, Soma Rasa hit the stage running in a non-stop extravaganza of beats, live percussion, turntabilism and the verbal harassment of MCs Kina and Handy. Running through their most recent works, the Hazard Brothers, DJ Sampology and aforementioned MCs owened the Hot House as their driving beats had the crowd moving in one large throbbing sweaty mass with Kina and Handy as vocal puppeteers.
