   Charlie's Blurbs
About me:

My name is Carlos. My friends call me Charlie. I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I'm 32 years young. Never been married. I have no children. I'm a full time student at IADT going for my bachelor’s degree in graphic design. I would love to teach art someday. I'm not in great shape but I've been working on that lately. I have a weird sense of humor. My dream job is to be the official mattress tester at the Playboy mansion. I prefer hanging out at a bar or pub instead of a club. I can be a little sarcastic sometimes. I work for a small company that's putting together an on-line video game. I love to sing karaoke. I drive a KIA. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. I'm allergic to some dogs and most cats. I don't dance too well. I'd like to move to NYC some day. I've seen a U.F.O. three times and I believe in bigfoot!

A Self Portrait Comic

I'm the creator of A Self Portrait Comic. It's an autobiographical, romantic comedy that chronicles my younger years when I was a hopeless romantic searching for true love in the tropical island of Puerto Rico.

If you're a fan of comic-books like Strangers In Paradise, Optic Nerve, Artbabe, Love Sucks, and American Splendor, you should definitely check it out!

Here's what people are saying about my comic...

"I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the comic, the style reminded a bit of the famed American Splendor comics." - Patti Martinson (SequentialTart.com)

"It’s a rarity when a comic speaks out this much to me, but A Self Portrait Comic truly sucked me in from the start because of how out of real life it could be." - Ryan McLelland (Newsarama.com)

These are the issues I have available. If you're interested in purchasing a copy, feel free to contact me.

I won four awards in The 3rd Annual Danger Fan Awards.

Comic Resume
Here are some other comic-book related work that I've done in the past. Ranging from penciling to coloring.

Writers Block Productions

Heroes Rebored #1

I pencilled Heroes Rebored #1, written by my friend David Arroyo. It's a comedic look at superheroes. (Think Seinfeld with capes.) I'm currently working on issue #2. For more info on that book check, feel free to visit David's blog.

Razor Blade Apple Studios

RBA Studios

I'm the official letterer for Razor Blade Apple Studios. I've done the lettering for Gunbreed #1 and a bunch of other stories for their RBA Presents anthology book. For more information go to their official website here.

Half Moose Media

Tails To Amaze

I've been dabbling with digital coloring. You can check out some of my coloring work in issue two of Tails To Amaze by Marc Hammond and Derrick Fish. For more information go to their official website here.

Tiki God Studios

Realm Quest

A one page story that I did starring Bugga The Troll is featured in Realm Quest #1 published by Tiki God Studios. If you're interested, you can order a copy of this comic-book here. You can check out more about them at thier website. And when you're there, make sure to click on the "Troll Tales" button to see more of my coloring work.

My artwork was featured on Grace Randolph's weekly column Graphic Debate over at COMICON.com! Click here to check it out.

Appearances & Signings

No current appearances scheduled.

If you're a comic-shop that would like to have me over for a signing, please contact me, I'll gladly go plug my book at your place of business.

Check back later for more updates!

And now... Elvis!
One of the best performances of one his best songs! Turn it up and enjoy!

Who I'd like to meet:

Comic creators, artists, writers, inkers, colorists, etc. Let's network! I'm interested in reading other people's work too.

I'd also like to meet cool folks that not only like comics, but movies, video games... y'know, pop culture junkies like me.

Hey, thanks for becoming part of my "friend" space! I'm looking to get more plugged in with creatives worldwide through this social network.

Congrats on the awards for A Self Portrait Comic. The cynic in me knows awards don't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it feels really good to be recognized!

My Xeric grant winning book "Jazz: Cool Birth" is now in September's Previews for preorder at comic shops, a murder mystery in a 1957 jazz bar, with art and type based on '50s album cover design, dig? Bebop for your glims.

Info about comic books as a business and focused ramblings are at ComicArtistsDirect. com. "Adam Among the Gods" and "Seductions" have just been made available to buy online at Aazurn. com. The Aazurn Publishing Saga, a step by step account of creating and selling these comics is there, also.

I'm looking forward to exploring the MySpace pages of all of my new "friends" (Man, does that sound square).

Peace!

The only thing left out of the wiki page is the fact that there is a very healthy geek population, due in large part to the government's successful breeding program in the 70's.
