   About Risk Relay

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Again recording their album completely by themselves, RR have tread a long road, losing a bassist, hiring a handful more, recording the basslines themselves & ultimately taking a few perfectionists' swings at the final product before overcoming the sophomore pitfalls that ultimately inspired Curses Sing. Time hasn't mellowed them instead seemingly encouraging even more complicated rhythms, brutally heavy twists & turns, and antagonistic melodies. Even with new tricks; a smattering of female vocals, atmospheric interludes & more immediate vocals, this is a rumbling percussive call to arms that never hints at a falter.

"Risk Relay is carrying the torch for nutcases with guitars. They mash hoarse, shouted vocals onto spindly guitar lines until the listener is bludgeoned into approval. They relive the glory days of indie noise with their unrelenting tales of neurotic obscurity, producing post-grunge messiness for modern-day amphetamine reptiles." Editor's review, Download.com

"...jittery, jarring, and oh-so compelling." Pastepunk.com

"Memorable and creative." Absolutepunk.net

Thanks for adding me. ¶ Love all people, not all ideas; don't confuse love with sleep. But people hear only what they want to hear, so mere facts won't wake them; they need inspiration too. ¶ This world's evils have a common root: Bullies, liars, thieves, & murderers — particularly those in public office — believe people are motivated only by greed & fear. They want us to share that belief, because they use it to justify themselves & to manipulate us. That belief shapes the world's political & economic systems, perpetuating war & poverty. ¶ But you & I have found something better inside ourselves & our friends. It's in everyone, even tank drivers & bomber pilots, if we can just wake them; we're all one flesh & blood. Let us spread that vision, for until we do our other advances will be minor & temporary. The outcome of the ideological struggle is not yet determined, so no one can afford to be just a spectator. Join the global conversation; it empowers us all. ¶ The Iraq war, like most wars, was based on lies, & now the occupation is making new enemies faster than it can kill them; that's helpful only to arms dealers & politicians. Ending the occupation won't change much: the next war is already being planned. (Same war, new location!) The economy is all wrong too: the rich get richer & fewer, everyone else gets screwed, & the ecosystem gets trashed. These problems are not new, but lately they've become so blatant that we've begun to understand them. It's time to end the military-industrial complex & the corporatocracy. We the people must control government, & government must control business, not the other way around. A good start would be transparency in government, public financing of election campaigns, trustbusting the news media, & ending corporate personhood. ¶ Question authority. Keep fighting, loving, hoping, singing. Hand in hand, we may still be able to heal the world.
— Love, Eric

We had nothing else, standing in circles
Left battlements growing in the dirt
Drawing lines between us
Tracing ellipses and squares
And yet we convinced ourselves
That there was nothing wrong
We put up divisions to the sky
Whispered from one ear to another
That there was no other
But knew it was all a lie
And for that the blame is on you
It was the trust laid out between us
We believed in you

Sultry goddess, you spin the stars above us
Bring questions to our answers
Your prophesies sealing fates for use at a better time
And no one is left alone
By the cool grey cloth that fall between us
Charts telling truths only you could see
The patterns in the sky weaving
A taste of clouds building, dangerous
Vigil candles burning through the night
We believed in you

You pierced the darkness and then
You made us forget who we were
You asked no questions, you didn’t care
You already knew all the answers
You were the first one out there
And darkly you greet the sun
They called you stubborn in the waiting
But you knew you were the first one
And you were the only one
The sun was all your own know

Stretched out on the sand you showed no lines
Your lotions went on smoothly disappearing
Only grains of sand visible on your skin
The sky found no impediment to you body
You tore down all the barriers yourself
You were the one between us and the rising sun
But you were the one that blinded
We could see no lines there

You knew you were the last of you kind
The mountains never seemed so high
It was your laugh that had set us on the edge
There was nothing else like it, we were scared
Your dark eyes told us you made up you mind
There was no cliff but we could feel it there
There was no fall but we were still scared
We were between you and them

Your descent to the valleys was fluid
One step followed another, content in the knowing
That no snow could ever touch you
Those icy feathers all around you sublime in fear
It was all so understandable to us
They knew they could never match you

Thanks for the request and for supporting Ms. Roy!

"The only dream worth having is to dream that you will live while you are alive, and die only when you are dead. To love, to be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and vulgar disparity of the life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget." - Arundhati Roy
