Like a weather pattern, a particular confluence of fronts appeared over the shores of NJ in the Spring of 2007: fueled by forces of desire, creativity, ability and experience.
This configuration would lead to the formation of a unique group, that for months would create, rehearse and tighten up, eventually deciding upon the name, RiotGod in the Autumn of 2007.
Featuring Bob Pantella ( drums ) and Jim Baglino ( bass ) both currently of Monster Magnet, RiotGod is rounded out by Sunshine ( vocals ) and Garrett Sweeny ( guitar ).
In the beginning, playing all the instruments, recording and mixing the music, Bob created all of the compositions that comprised the initial songs the band would play. Bob, having discussed a possible project with Jim during their time off the road, wanted a product as close to finished as could be achieved before he would show Jim anything. Bob would first seek vocals and guitar to complete the music.
Sunshine was called for lyrics and melody and Garrett was called for guitar. Both agreed, creating and recording what was needed to flesh out the first batch of songs. Bob showed Jim his idea and the band was officially formed.
Over 2007, the band played select shows, honing their skills and working on creating their own brand of live show.
July 2008: UPDATE. RiotGod celebrated its first year of existence in May, and looks to the near future. While Bob and Jim tour with their other bands during the summer: the both of them in Europe with Monster Magnet and Bob again manning the kit for the Atomic Bitchwax, RiotGod promoted its existence and tried to let as many people know about its music as possible. New shows are being planned, merch is being developed and as always new songs are being created.
