--------------------------------------------------------

What’d you think we’ve been doing these past two years, sitting around with our thumbs up our asses? Well you’re only half right; there’s no time for Persona to be just sitting around. So since the January 2007 release of our debut full length ‘CRYPTIC MYSTIC’, we spent at least a year working on new material, and jamming it out till our brains were sore. Then we scraped up enough cash, headed off to Justin Koop’s B-Town Sound in Burlington, ON to record 3 new songs to 5 tracks, which span about 36 minutes.

The title track is a 25-minute conceptual behemoth which was ultimately separated into three parts (or tracks) for aesthetic accessibility, and is sandwiched between the opening song, ‘Gone Cold’, which will be our new single, and ‘Bridge’, the album’s roaring ender. For those who braved the quite improvised ’07 full length, you can look forward to some new improvements including a year’s worth of cognitive song writing, exhaustive pre-production, sonic quality of ridiculous proportions (mixed and mastered by Koop himself), ameliorated vocal lines, and the occasional inclusion of synthesizer, piano and trumpet to the soundscape.

‘Gone Cold’ has been added to our MySpace and Facebook sites so check it out and let us know what you think, yea or nay. Your opinion is invaluable to us, you being the listener, we, the dancing monkeys onstage. We’ve got to make some bananas off this release.

Graphic design is currently underway for the album artwork, Persona is shopping around for a good pressing deal, and the whole EP will be available sometime this fall, this year! God what a wait; almost two years for less than forty minutes of music. It will all be worth it though, like the childish anticipation of Christmas morn’, and we’ll be gettin’ it out to ya for the most reasonable price we can. Till then, chew on the new song. Hope you like it.

-Persona

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Persona began in a basement in the quaint village of Hespeler, Ontario, just across the Speed river, through the valley and up the hill.

For Shawn Reeves (bass, vocals), Lucas Soppelsa (drums, percussion) and Bernie (guitar, vocals), Persona was all about music, the improvisational flow of a soaring melody melded with the post-modern techy world of metal and punk. Before long, Scott Rebelo joined forces on guitar and vocals and practicing regularly, Persona was now armed with a solid artillery of rhythm and tone (not to mention manipulated, tweeked-out effects)!

A year or so passed, and our protagonists reached a fork in the road: Local musician Matthew Davey climbed aboard Persona, offering up guitar and vocals, while Bernie gracefully stepped down in pursuit of other things. It should be told that keyboards, synthesizers, sampling and electronic percussion were making their rounds aboard the increasingly accelerating vehicle of sound that is Persona.

The new quartet has been solidified for over a year now, traveling the vast expanses of sound, tone and texture, inspired by music, life and psychedelia. Persona has shared the stage with such acts as Farewell to Freeway (Year of the Sun), I Hate Sally (Underground Operations), Fuck the Facts (Relapse Records), Mongoose (Copperspine Records) and Tugnut (Elliot Street Records); they have played such venues as The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, The Rainbow in Ottawa and The Pavilion in Halifax and have played for charity causes including Daily Bread and Out of the Cold, the latter raising $1400 for the soup kitchen.

With cross-Canadian tours under their belts and armed with their debut full length album ‘Cryptic Mystic’, Persona are tearing up bars, tripping out audiences, and awaiting the release of their new 5 song EP "The Muse" this Fall 2008!

yeah - would've been a fun show for sure. summer can be a real drag trying to have everyone in town at the same time. but on a lighter note, we have in fact been recording and things are starting to take shape. not too sure when we'll have anything to show - hopefully 3 tracks or so by late august.

anyways, let's hook something up early on in the fall. gettin' the itch.

and congrats on the RTM slot! will try to be there.
