Multitalented Los Angeles based instrumentalist/producer Oren Yoel brings a fresh and creative approach to the increasingly unoriginal music scene. Classically trained on piano and wind instruments, Yoel began composing music on his own at six years old and was a self-taught hip hop DJ by his teens. Influenced by his mother’s record collection and his older brother's rap cassettes, Yoel was exposed to a lot of music from around the world. A hip hop head since childhood, he honed his classical skills working with the prestigious USC Jazz Ensemble while studying piano and composition in college. Drawing from his early experiences in music, Yoel's unique production style bridges a timeless classical perspective with modern, forward-thinking ideas and sounds.
Upon graduating from USC in 2005, Yoel began making a name for himself on the music scene, garnering placements on HBO's original series "The Comeback" (starring Lisa Kudrow) and contributing to the acclaimed title theme of Cartoon Network's "The Boondocks" (performed by Asheru). Yoel was also tapped to create music for the Speed Channel's "Unique Whips" and co-produce the title theme for an upcoming PBS show.
In addition to his television work, Yoel began working directly with local and national artists, both performing live and writing/producing songs. Diligent work and strong relationships led to several meetings with major labels, with Yoel ultimately placing four tracks on the upcoming project from exciting new rap artist Asher Roth, signed to SRC/Universal Records.
Yoel's production draws the balance between classic and contemporary, combining crisply layered live instrumentation with deftly laid drum patterns rooted in the percussive rhythms of hip hop. His innovative soundscapes intricately weave together funk, soul, rock, hip hop and classical influences, resulting in an innovatively fresh and original sound. With several accomplishments in his noteworthy young career, Oren Yoel is a bright talent who stands poised to help shape the future of popular music
