As a multi award-winning recording artist and Jazz /rock/contemporary classical performer on both electric and nylon string guitars. NEY MELLO performs nationally (Kennedy Center, NAMM show, colleges, Jazz venues) and internationally in Europe and South America Ney has released six records to date and is currently working on a electronic jazz project.
Ney is also in the final stages of production of a revolutionary 2-DVD set for pickstyle right hand mastery training.
Ney also had the unique and extraordinary opportunity to have guitar legend Al Di Meola as a mentor when he moved to the US from his native Brazil.
Ney is know for his unusual versatility in the studio spanning, jazz, flamenco, fusion, brazilian music, rock, classical, North Indian classical music....Inspite being a melodist and lyrical player, Ney is known to audiences worldwide for his phenomenal command of the instrument both with pick and fingers. Ney, having been raised all over the world, speaks Portuguese, French,English, spanish and Italian. He studied classical guitar in Brazil under the legendary Eustaquio Grilo...He is entirely self-taught on electric guitar and bass.
Ney has composed and performed music for MTV public broadcast spots and has performed on BET NETWORK's Jazz Central show with tabla master Broto Roy.
He was also the sole artist invited to represent Brazil in the first Ibero-American Chamber Music Festival, playing Villalobos, Gismonti, and ''Jogos De Mar", a piece he wrote for the event.
Ney's jazz heritage shows in his family as well. He is related to the greatest brazilian jazz artist, the late saxophone giant and legend VICTOR ASSIS BRASIL and guitarits/educator GUSTAVO ASSIS BRASIL .
Ney, as did his cousin Victor, also has an unusually effective gift for teaching. His former students include Grammy Award winner Herbert Vianna.
Ney receives numerous international guitar students at many levels of ability and several prominent recording rock artists and jazz/jazz-fusion artists for private guitar/bass technique and improvisational development consultations.
Their goal is the same as NEY's...to always go beyond and BE the music..free of technical impediments and limitations.
