   About Johnny Burns

Son of Country Music Hall of Famer JETHRO BURNS and nephew of musical legend CHET ATKINS, JOHNNY BURNS is a chip off of a very impressive block. A long time member of the Chicago Folk/Rock/Americana scene, Johnny rose through the ranks as vocalist/guitarist with the late STEVE GOODMAN (City of New Orleans) and founder and leader of JOHN PRINE'S recording and touring band...

"Johnny is one of my favorite singer/guitarists. He single-handedly assembled my band, co-wrote songs, and recorded three albums with me."

—JOHN PRINE

"Johnny Burns is a major talent. He is a master guitarist as well as a fine singer/songwriter. Add the fact that he's a great entertainer and you have the complete package. The bottom line is, when you hear Johnny play, you WILL have fun!"

—SAM BUSH

"It's Johnny Burns' inspired guitar playing that makes you want to roll your bobby sox down and boogie. Son of famed mandolinist Jethro Burns, Johnny has inherited his father's exceptional talent. The younger Burns' considerable talent helps create a formidable performance."

—LOUISVILLE TIMES

"Realizing that Johnny Burns has moved to your town is like waking up in Guitar Heaven - Only you're not dead and the angels are all playing big old Gibson guitars and singing about how Martians are out to steal our women!

—STUART DYSON, KOBTV

"Combine a macabre sense of humor with guitar licks that make other six-stringers drool and you start to get an idea of just how overwhelmingly entertaining Johnny Burns is when he lights up a stage. If Stephen King and Mark Knopfler ever had a love child, it might sound like Johnny Burns!"

—TIM JOHNSON, FILM DIRECTOR, DREAMWORKS ANIMATION (Over the Hedge and Antz)

Hey Johnny,
It was great to find you here!
Judging by your site, you are sure carrying on the legacy of fine talent that runs in your family.
I grew up listening to Homer and Jethro. Several years later I got to take a mandolin lesson with your dad. I'm so greatful for his influence and friendship.
Love to here you live sometime.
Best wishes,
David

Johnny!

Great to hear from you! Love your site, pics, tunes, drawings, all way cool. Finally got to pick with Sam B in December, talked about your dad and Big Red. I put a mando tribute to Jethro on my CD, something he showed me years ago, I hope you can hear it.

So good to hear from you, stay in touch, maybe we will tour out your way. Paul
