    Mike's Interests
Generalbooks/reading, metadata (SERIOUSLY!), archives, good music, good people, good times, hangin' out, ninjas, pirates, zombies, robots, any combination of the previous four.
MusicAvenged Sevenfold, Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Dragonforce, Black Label Society, Motorhead, basically anything that is loud and that rocks.
MoviesEvil Dead trilogy, LotR, Mallrats, Clerks, Ong Bak, that scene from Zombi where a zombie fights a shark, Dawn of the Dead, The Warriors, Star Wars Trilogy, I'd like to say I could list some artsy flicks here but I'm a cultureless American Fanboy so backoff! Ok Ok I did really like Cinema Paradisio, I've only seen half of Seven Samurai, Touch of Evil is great though Charlton Heston is the worst mexican ever, I liked the original Scarface from the 1930s if anyone knows where I can find DVDs (if they exist) of pre-code Hollywood flicks I'd be interested as I haven't seen anything from that era but would like to.
TelevisionFirefly, Lost, Studio 60, Veronica Mars, Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Venture Bros., The Daily Show, The Colbert Report
BooksAnything by Steven Erikson. If it's fantasy I've probably read it; what can I say I'm huge nerd. In the past I've enjoyed Dickens (Great Expectations), I keep trying to read Proust (it isn't fair that the first half of Swan's Way is about sleep dammit!). I'm a big fan of the poetry of John Keats, and every once and a while I'll pick up a translation of the Poetic Edda (norse sagas) for fun. I have a crapload of non-fiction I haven't got to yet a lot on medieval military history, 2 nature books on Ravens/crows, the memoirs of General Caulaincourt. The Tao teching is a constantly fascinating book as well and I have yet to finish the Bhagavad-gita. And how could I forget my good friend HPL, the man was paid be the word and it shows but Lovecraft is still one of my favorite authors.
HeroesCaptain America, Green Lantern, Spiderman, Batman...oh...actual heroes? My family and friends are my biggest heroes. Based on his personal writings Dag Hammarskjold ranks up there...but I don't know too much about the man.

It all begins in 1893, with an intrepid crew of young balloonists whose storybook adventures will bookend, interrupt and sometimes even be read by, scores of at least somewhat more realistic characters over the next 30 years. Yeah baby. See if you can get me one without those stupid red stickers on it!
