A young man finds himself caught up in a world of intrigue when he discovers an amazing secret. He sets out to change the world in this warm character driven plot featuring romance, colorful chase scenes, and good old fashioned greed and corruption.
Influences
There are so many great musicians out there. My all time favorite guitarist is Joe Pass followed by Steve Giordano of Philadelphia, George Benson, Pat Martino, Johnny Smith, Alex DiGrassi, Michael Hedges, Ralph Towner to name a few. Singers I am influenced by are Elvis (odd yes but he is definitely in there), Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Al Jarreau, Bobby Caldwell
I am also deeply influenced by the philosophy of New Thought, Kabbalah, Tarot, Zen, Patanjali. All of these tend to filter the songs I write. You write what you are.
The night winds carry sounds softly as if by design.
There in the muted light of a crescent moon I begin to play.
At first the chords find nowhere to bounce off.
The silence does not echo their reply.
Then a single chirp above it all high and cheerful unexpected at once and then as it becomes familiar it blends with the music. Now I can feel each creature tuning in to listen almost as if this single night singer has made it okay for everyone around to be not only a part of the audience but also a part of the performance.
Sounds Like
Al Jarreau, George Benson, Seal, James Taylor

I've been a musician all of my life except before the age of ten I thought I was a baseball player, a pilot, a high flying trapeze artist, a sword fighter, an adventurer, an army man; in short all of those things kids dream of after going to the Saturday afternoon matinees.
None of those stuck but playing the guitar sure did. What a passion I've always had for the guitar and for singing.
I played professionally during the Seventies and early eighties between NYC and Philadelphia. All during this time I wrote songs but never performed them live. It wasn't until much later beginning in 1995 that my wife JJ (harmonica) and I spent the next seven years playing coffee houses as the band JJ Slim on the left coast between LA and San Diego. Every song I played was an original tune. Out this incredible time we produced a CD ONE SHINING STAR
Each moment creates for itself the exact purpose for which it was intended.

The Dragonfly Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads, there lived a little water beetle in a community of water beetles. They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond with few disturbances and interruptions.
Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and would never be seen again. They knew when this happened; their friend was dead, gone forever.
Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge to climb up that stem. However, he was determined that he would not leave forever. He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top.
When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the surface of the lily pad, he was so tired, and the sun felt so warm, that he decided he must take a nap. As he slept, his body changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying.
So, fly he did! And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never known existed.
Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they were thinking by now he was dead. He wanted to go back to tell them, and explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been before. His life had been fulfilled rather than ended.
But, his new body would not go down into the water. He could not get back to tell his friends the good news. Then he understood that their time would come, when they, too, would know what he now knew. So, he raised his wings and flew off into his joyous new life! ~ Author Unknown ~
Behind every fortune is someone who has labored long into the night to make it real. Behind every important discovery is a person who often grew weary searching for it. Behind the magnificent work of art is an artist who spent hour after hour, month after month toiling at tasks that were tedious and seemingly endless. Behind the beautiful, soaring music is a composer who carefully arranged each note, each pause, each crescendo into place. Take heart. Your effort cannot help but pay off. The fact is, your effort is the payoff. The fortune, the discovery, the work of art, and the music, as grand as they are, serve as mere tokens of the achievement. The real achievement is in the achieving, and the real value is in the doing. Sincere, focused effort makes your life rich, even as you do it. Make the effort and the reward is guaranteed. For the biggest reward is in the doing.
Timely words Mark...thank you. Life is indeed presenting many new things, all exciting and challenging too. Like you say we have to take heart, have courage and fly.....love and peace Louise xx
what a precious soul you are Mark.. may the poetry continue to pour out of your sweet soul.. just stopping by to thank you and wish you a beautiful week ahead..keep that pen moving kiddo! Laura
