Sounds Like’delicate acoustic roots pop with heartfelt lyrics and a superb vocal’ Reveal Records

Reviews for Lost Again ’a lovely album..I’m a big fan of Lost Again’ Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

‘Lost Again’ really delivers on the promise shown on her debut disc – memorable songs, strong vocals and sweet melodies combine to make an excellent album.’ Fish Records

’one of the most captivating records of its kind that I’ve received for review this year...while Lost Again is manifestly a continuation in terms of Lisa’s deeply felt yet recognisably smart songwriting, and its basic idiom remains exquisite melodic country-tinged acoustic pop, the album is definitely and consciously more "produced", with significantly increased instrumentation and beautiful (and imaginative) arrangements to envelop Lisa’s trademark stunning voice and acoustic guitar and complement her reflective, heartfelt and emotionally-charged (without being overwrought) lyrics...the end result is heart-meltingly good...Play this rapturously good CD just once, and you’ll definitely want to get lost again (and again, and again…) in its charms, I just know it!’ Netrhythms

’this album is even better..an alt country-tinged set with zippy melodies and excellent playing all topped with Lisa’s effortlessly pure vocals.’ The Event Magazine ****

’it is that voice which is her crowning glory and sets her apart from her contemporaries. In a market awash with quality female singer/songwriters Lisa Redford is up there with the best.’ Classic Rock Society

’my pick of the crop has to be Lost Again - Lisa Redford. I personally would put Lisa in the same bracket as country/folk singers Iris Dement and Nanci Griffith. I will be very disappointed if we do not get to hear more from this lady with the super voice. And her talents do not just stop there, all tracks on this album, except for one, were written by Lisa Redford. If you like good music, this one is well worth a listen.’ Roy Heap, Pedal Steel Magazine

’a wonderful cd’ East Magazine

’a well accomplished selection of songs which are personal, direct and easily accessible. Strong, distinct melodies give the tracks a sense of immediacy and are topped off by Lisa’s great voice and some excellent musical backing.’ Americana UK

’Lisa knows how to write songs that linger on longer than the length of the CD..she writes great melodies and lovely refrains.’ MazzMusikaS, Belgium

’it’s wonderful but I expected that of course’ Harmony Ridge Music, California, USA

’there is no doubting the quality of writing and performance’ Proper Music Distribution

’a terrific record that I love a lot!’ Alt Country Cooking, The Netherlands

’We love the Cd and have been playing it on the programs.’ Folkscene, USA

Praise for Slipstream

’a beautiful debut album...a lovely songwriter with a great voice.’ Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

’Every so often a CD by an totally new, unknown artist comes along and just knocks you sideways. That happened for me last year when SLIPSTREAM, the debut album by singer-songwriter Lisa Redford, landed in my CD player...Slipstream is an amalgam of heartache, fervour and triumph, sung with authority and passion...In a sea of smart female singer-songwriters, Lisa Redford is an admiral.’ Maverick Magazine ****

’her long-awaited debut album, can best be described as heavenly...This album will grow and grow on you - buy it.’ The Event Magazine ****

’this is no clumsy pastiche of other people’s work, it’s a distinct and individual disc that more than stands up on its own as a strong collection of new material. This is possibly the best independent UK singer/songwriter disc we’ve heard over the past 5 years...Highly recommended.’ Fish Records

’Redford never loses track of what she does best, which is create acoustic gems full of heart-felt emotion... captures Lisa’s ability to hold a listener’s attention with just her voice, words, and acoustic guitar.’ BestFemaleMusicians, New York

’Quite simply she writes great songs which are the perfect vehicle for her stunningly beautiful voice...she’s right up there with the best of them.’ Classic Rock Society Magazine

’As a solo artist she exudes an angelic, almost ethereal charm; her agreeable, warm vocals simple and enticing, coupling delightfully with her palette of gentle acoustics...there’s a dedication at work beneath these dozen delightfully crafted songs that burns bright with commendable confidence.’ Logo Magazine

’an absolute beauty...twelve gorgeous songs that make an instant impression. Simple, pure, mainly acoustic, it’s an album full of highs...highly recommended.’ East Life Magazine

’An excellent debut-CD from an interesting British artist. I long to hear her next release. If you haven..t heard her, then do!’ Smalands Country Club, Sweden *****

’Lisa Redford has some weighty plaudits already, one emanating from Whisperin’ (Whistle Test) Bob Harris. Truth is, Redford’s melancholy tunes are full of lashings of Carole King, bits of The Carpenters and a weighty fusion of Americana and lively folk. It has a nice live feel to it and it certainly seems to be a natural performance with everything laid bare and presented with plenty of open space. Entertaining and authentic stuff.’ Manchester Music review of ’Be Around’ single

’A fine example of Lisa’s beautiful voice and songwriting talent.’ Review of Lisa’s song ’Turn Away’ in The Event Magazine which featured on compilation CD ’Guide No1"

’An absolutely beautiful voice...her songs are simple and perfect and will be buzzing round your head for weeks after you hear them.’ BBC Radio Norfolk

’She has one of those voices that make you feel good when you listen to her... Her ability to carry a line on the acoustic guitar is first rate.’ Best Female Musicians, New York. Review of promo CD Carolina Rain

’Acclaimed singer-songwriter Lisa has earned herself a reputation as a formidable talent. Don’t miss this star in the making.’ One Hundred Magazine

’With an angelic voice and a shed load of talent this girl is going to go far..a born star..only a matter of time before she has world domination.’ The Biz ITV1

’It was also wonderful to discover why everyone thinks so highly of Lisa Redford. She was lovely…bright, enthusiastic and talented. She works incredibly hard and takes a hands-on role in all aspects of her career, from recording, pressing and releasing her own CD’s to booking her own tours...her second album ‘Lost Again’, contains a superb version of Neal Casal’s ‘Fell On Hard Times’…just voice and guitar. She exactly locates and expresses the plaintive emotion of the song.’ Bob Harris talking about Lisa and her live BBC Radio 2 session in Maverick Magazine

"a lovely songwriter with a great voice" Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

"brilliant! Lisa has a great voice" Glenn Tilbrook, Squeeze

"In a sea of smart female singer-songwriters, Lisa Redford is an admiral.’ Maverick Magazine ****

Influenced by classic singer-songwriters such as Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and contemporary artists such as Neal Casal, Ryan Adams, Josh Rouse, Mindy Smith and Kathleen Edwards, Lisa is a versatile singer-songwriter whose music has been described as delicate acoustic roots pop with heartfelt lyrics, gorgeous melodies and stunning vocals.

Lisa began her music career when she sang harmonies with a band in London. She began songwriting, formed acoustic duo Redford and they began performing extensively at acoustic venues around the UK. They also made appearances on TV and radio, at the Cambridge Folk Festival, headlined many successful acoustic showcases, and supported respected songwriters Glenn Tilbrook and Mike Silver. An electronic direction was found when a third member joined and the trio earned a formidable live reputation which included opening for The Sneaker Pimps and Matthew Jay. They also had one of their songs included in a British independent film which was on general release in 2001.

In 2002 Lisa provided vocals and music for the national ITV1 series Dare to Believe and began life as a solo artist. Her track ’Turn Away’ appeared on compilation CD Guide..1 which showcased the hottest talent in the UK. She also recorded numerous live radio sessions, performed sold out headlining shows and at the Cambridge Folk Festival, wrote music for the second series of Dare to Believe, sang in a latin jazz duo and trio, and opened for The Arlenes, Boo Hewerdine, Jesse Sykes and Laura Veirs.

In November 2003 Lisa’s debut album, the self-released ’Slipstream’, came out. The album contained 12 songs all written, performed and produced by Lisa. It captured a very natural acoustic sound because Lisa wanted the recordings to be as near to her compelling live performances as possible.

Slipstream gained widespread glowing reviews, and tracks from the album received airplay on Bob Harris’ Saturday show on Radio 2 and various other radio stations around the world. In 2004 she also opened for many respected artists including Kathryn Williams, The Handsome Family, The Hot Club of Cowtown, The Deadstring Brothers and Kate Campbell and made many festival appearances in the UK and Europe. To reflect her growing profile, Lisa also headlined a BBC Radio 2 SoldonSong Showcase in December.

2005 saw Lisa tour Europe, play shows with Johnathan Rice and Griffin House, and perform at the prestigious singer-songwriter festival at London’s Borderline supporting Peter Mulvey. She also played shows and a festival in Vancouver, Canada. August saw the release of her long-awaited second album, Lost Again produced by Gabriel Minnikin, a former member of acclaimed Canadian alt-country band, The Guthries. Lost Again took her blend of exquisitely melodic country pop to another level with beautiful lush arrangements and an increase in instrumentation. Ranging from the breezy radio-friendly title track, the aching ballad When You Go, the Drake tinged Dragonfly, to the epic Universe, the album further showcased her depth of songwriting talent and made for a truly compelling listen.

Lost Again also received airplay on Bob Harris’s Friday and Saturday shows and on radio stations throughout Europe and the US. It also received great print reviews and made the Top 50 Americana albums of 2005 at Americana UK. Lisa’s song ’Dragonfly’ was also played on Bob’s ’Best of British’ special show which featured the best British songwriters. Lisa was the only unsigned artist on the show and was played alongside The Stones, The Beatles, The Kinks, Radiohead, Coldplay, Nick Drake, Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny and many others. The title track was also been playlisted on local BBC radio stations. Due to a distribution deal with Proper, the UK’s biggest independent distributors, Lost Again, and Slipstream are also now available in all good record shops.

2006 was another busy and successful year. Lisa began it by playing packed out shows opening for Chuck Prophet and Eileen Rose. Tracks from Lost Again and Slipstream also continued to receive airplay on Bob Harris’s Radio 2 shows. In Spring she toured throughout the UK and played headlining shows in the Netherlands. She also played the SWAP festival in Manchester and opened for Gina Villalobos, Corb Lund, Eve Selis, Michael Weston King, Devon Sproule, Rod Picott and Keith James. The year ended with two very exciting events. In December, Lisa played live dates at some of New York’s premier acoustic venues including a co-bill with highly acclaimed singer-songwriter Lizanne Knott. Then, she was personally invited to do a live session and interview on the BBC Radio 2 Bob Harris Saturday show. Lisa performed 3 songs live and the response was amazing.

2007 has seen Lisa return to New York twice for headlining shows and be the very special guest at a ’Bob Harris Presents..Americana’ showcase in London. She has also played headlining shows across the UK and received standing ovations and did shows with Brian Kennedy and Jess Klein. A third album is ready to be recorded and the demos will be posted up on here.

Lisa is also an accomplished and experienced session vocalist and is available for session singing and live work. If you’re a band or artist interested in having Lisa’s beautiful vocals on your record or at a live show, please get in contact. She has already sung harmonies for Americana artists Quiet Loner, Gabriel Minnikin and Garron Frith and recorded vocals for Jon O’Bir, one of the leading DJ’s at the moment who is carving the new face of the trance genre. If you’re unable to view the ’Why’ promo video, follow this link: http://www.vidlife.com/video_play_719997_why.htm

"Live, her voice really has immense power yet great control too and reminds me of the same heart worn tender vibrato of a young Emmylou Harris. Lisa’s voice is purer with a warm timbre, but has that same raw emotion in her voice that makes you feel she has lived through all the heartbreak she sings and writes about." Live Review at Americana UK

Lost Again and Slipstream are available to purchase from all good record shops in the UK. This includes Virgin Megastores and HMV
