King Sauce is a "novelty-pop" project out of Columbus, NJ headed by Richie Chodes. Combining 70's am radio, 60's pop, and a touch of vaudeville, King Sauce creates catchy tunes with silly, tounge in cheek lyrics ala Randy Newman. Aptly named for a Burger King condiment, King Sauce sometimes borders on the offensive but all in good fun! Picture the Monkees meet Weird Al and you'll get the picture. He has released a 7" vinyl EP for hhbtm records in 1999, a split vinyl EP for Obtuse records in 2001, and a full length cd "Please don't change the channel" for hhbtm records in 2002, as well as various compilations. Richie Chodes also was the bass player/keyboardist for the Elephant 6 based "Vince Mole and his Calcium Orchestra" headed by former Apples in Stereo guitarist Chris Parfitt.
Update: King Sauce will be releasing a Holday EP this upcoming Christmas 2008, possibly on vinyl, consisting of 4 unreleased songs from the "Cancelled" and "PLease don't change the channel"sessions. King Sauce also may be playing the Toledo Indie pop festival this upcoming sumer. Stay tuned!
