The Kingfisher Sky story begins in 2001, when drummer Ivar de Graaf decided to part ways with Within Temptation, a band who were experiencing their first international breakthrough at the time. Together with classically trained vocalist Judith Rijnveld, Ivar started writing new music without being bound to a specific genre or musical style.
With diverse influences such as Heart. Clannad, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree, the writing resulted in a style that isn't easy to categorise, though the term Progressive Myth Rock seems to cover all bases. In short: contrasts - one moment dreamy and atmospheric, then heavy and brutal the next. By the beginning of 2006 the writing efforts were compiled on an impressive eleven track demo, which ultimately led to the duo signing a recording contract with Suburban Records the following October.
Former Orphanage bassist Eric Hoogendoorn, guitarists Daan Janzing and Edo van der Kolk and keyboardist George van Olffen were recruited to make Kingfisher Sky a full band and from May through July of 2007 the band recorded in several studios, under the inspired guidance of producers Jochem Jacobs (Textures) and Bouke Visser of Split Second Sound.
Kingfisher Sky's debut CD Hallway Of Dreams is now available in stores in the Benelux.

Had em even van Bruce geleend voor de opnames. Ik vond em beter bij m'n haar passen vandaar. M'n Bruce Springsteen boerendoek ligt ook al klaar voor de show zondag trouwens... Alleen Courtney Cox wilde nog niet echt meewerken... en ik had der nog wel een krentenbol beloofd!!

Helaas had ik de laatste paar maanden weinig tijd om concerten te bezoeken, maar 27 december a.s. ben ik in ieder geval van de partij in de Boerderij! En ik ben natuurlijk ook van de partij in de 013..
Geweldig trouwens dat het album ook in de U.S. is uitgekomen!(beetje late reactie, I know..LOL)inmiddels ben ik de trotse bezitster van een enige echte Kingfisher Sky plastic tas...toen ik weer eens een bezoekje bracht aan Rocky Road en een cd kocht..kreeg ik er een zeer bijpassend tasje bij....haha Heel toepasselijk allemaal!
