Among these are Marden Hill’s seminal Acid jazz album Blown Away (titled Hijacked in the US) about which the term ‘Trip Hop’ was originally coined by Ashley Beadle (Xpress2). The USA single from that album, Hijack, sung and co-written by Kev, found its way onto two movie soundtracks: Halloween Resurrection and Playing God. Also instigator, promoter and Music Director of Hertford Marquee, Rock at the Castle, Hertford Music Festival and Strum City. Other Trip Hop/Acid Jazz projects include AFTER DARK (BMG Portugal with Jonathan Miller), BEAMISH & FLY (with Marden Hill’s Mark Daniels), SLY and SPACEHOPPA (both with Jonathan Miller and Mark Daniels). But Kev also does rock ‘n’ roll. Worked in New York with TakashiO’Hashi as co-writer and vocalist on the NEITHER REALITY NOR FICTION album for EMI Japan back in 1990 – and now working with Takashi on a trip hop reworking of one of those songs, entitled Body and Soul. Currently recording a solo project, some new Daniels/Miller/Saunders tracks and playing the Joe Strummer role in a Clash tribute band for the love of it, Kev’s also written a feature film screenplay commissioned by the UK Film Council and has recently completed his first novel.
