Josh Walker was born and raised in South Carolina, surrounded by the outdoors and brought up in a musical family, listening to his parents’ record collection of rock and forming a natural sense of rhythm and melody early on. Josh was given his first guitar in the seventh grade, and began writing songs, going on to form successful high school projects, studying with several local guitar virtuosos, and attending prestigious jazz programs.
His irresistible calling to New York City soon landed him a gig at the Howard Stern Show in the summer of 2003, immediately catching the ears of producer Gary Dellabate, going on to perform several times on air for Simon Cowell and Pamela Anderson. This buzz led to packed shows in small clubs in the city, and meeting producer Johnny "Flo B Wan" Levine, someone who saw eye to eye with Walker’s vision.
Sony Music Studios was the project’s home for half of 2007, where Walker and Co. tracked a 5 song EP (all tunes are available for free download from myspace player). "Everything just fell into place with the right guys in the right studio at the right time, and it feels good to look at how far I've come in such a small amount of time." (jw)
Currently, JW is planning dates for later this year and rehearsing electric and acoustic sets that are an honest and raw representation of what he brings to the table. "Josh's sound is a blend of all there was, is, and will be... referencing roots of rock, pop, punk, and country.” (flo b)
