I was born and raised in Kennewick, Washington.....that's the lower right hand corner for those non-washingtonians. I went to Eastern Washington University and earned a degree in string bass performance and then went on to the Eastman school of music receiving a master's degree there. I am a Musician (bassist) now living in Seattle, Washington......o.k. technically Kirkland, Washington. I have lived here for the last 5 years and in that amount of time made many new friends. Recently I have been performing with Ernestine Anderson, Jay Thomas, the Greg Williamson Quartet and the Axiom Quartet. I also play quite a few classical gigs jazz casuals and really enjoy playing with singer/song writers in the area. When not performing, practicing or writing music I try to enjoy all the outdoor activities that the Northwest has to offer. I am a long time mountain biker and have recently purchased a road bike. I was instantly addicted! I have been trying to hike a bit as well and this winter will try my hand (foot rather) at snow shoeing.
Hey Jon, Thanks for the great recording session yesterday. Great ideas, great tone, flawless playing. Looking forward to more of the same later this year.
There's this place towards the end of Hans York's "The Garden" (3:38) where you suddenly play a phrase after playing pedal tones most of the song. It's the most brilliant thing and just rings out and is great.
So looking forward to playing with you ... hopefully this fall when I come to Seattle!
hey Jon, i'm thoroughly enjoying your cd; it's on a constant rotation now; love the juxtaposition of the two groupings of musicians and the somber mood...congratulations to you! hope to see you again real soon, c
So, I was looking at one of my friend's friend list on this lovely world of myspace, and I came across your name... It was pretty weird, and yet kind of cool at the same time!
Anyway, your music is amazing! You're definitely my favorite musician out of all of the Hamar kids named Jon =D
