Jeff Levy-Makor has spent most of his life playing guitar. The initial inspiration for this was when his friend came over with a copy of ’Abraxas’ by the hot band of the time, Santana! From the opening notes of ’Samba pa ti’, Jeff knew that he’d heard a deeply personal sound. "It sounded like my mother and father speaking to me", was how he described that album, and Latin fusion is ’the language’ Jeff has naturally played from that moment. "When I play any guitar, the rhythms, tone and language I employ is of an unconscious desire to tap into emotions and quiet happiness and healing that music often brings"! Jeff has played for over 30 years, but is now projecting his music over the net and selling his work for the first time. "The internet and virtual stores have emancipated the musician, and that’s a good thing for the buying public, too"! "For the first time, the public can select which tracks they want out of an album and that, in turn, inspires musicians to only put their strongest work out there". In the beginning of August, 07 his five song album ’SHEMA’ was released worldwide. "I’m excited to be included along side the great members of our community and selling my music with theirs". Jeff is realistic in as much that he knows that his sound is very similar to Carlos Santana and will alienate as many as he is appreciated by. "That used to bother me, but I’m overjoyed that I can express myself in this way. By the amount of sales in the virtual stores Jeff has received since August ’07, there are thousands of fans of his melodic and heartfelt style. “I get emails from all over the world asking me about my sound and touring etc, and although I always respond, the dates to advertise the forthcoming follow-up to “Shema”, is yet to be confirmed! I love to play the minor keys and pour my heart out at anytime of day" "If anyone compares me...even in a damaging way, I remind them that all the great musicians clearly show their heritage, and I don’t wish to hide my voice and abilities because it doesn’t sit well with someone I don’t know". Jeff’s current equipment is: Washburn and PRS guitars, Tech 21 ’trademark’ amps, CMATMODS overdrive pedals (fantastic natural sounding boxes), Jim Dunlop cry baby wah and 2mm ’Stubby’ plectrums (my secret weapon), Boss delays and Zaola leads. In the last few months, Jeff’s attention has been diverted to creating a new fund raising initiative called "The Musicians Well". "I should be writing my follow up to ’SHEMA’, but "the well" is my first love, and I’ll not give up. I believe in every musician’s untapped resource and the natural inclination to help one another". "It’s this that keeps me going". "I hope you enjoy the site, music, photos and regular articles. Feel free to comment or leave a message anytime. I always value your feedback.
Love and shalom"

I am on my way to see Ramblin' Jack Elliot at a friends down the street. A legend indeed.
Just came back, as I do quite often, to listen to your music and enjoy your Marvin Gaye-ish cover of Victory. I've never heard someone come so close to nailing Santana's tone and phrasing. I'm sure that you would have an emotional orgy if you ever got the chance to sit in with my band and I. I hope someday we could share that experience. There is still a good chance that I may go to England but it doesn't look like it will happen this month. Mr. Gallager informed me recently that the Art Gallery is undergoing interior construction and will not be opening yet. I hope it does happen. I've been wanting to go to England all my life. My father had been there a few times and one of my best friends from high school lives in London right now and they tell me it's a beautiful place. About 75% of my influences are from England. English musicians actually taught the American audiences about the blues and helped many unknown African-American get the recognition they deserved. 'Nuff said! - Joe Quintana
