| About JAVAMONKEY Music |
JAVAMONKEY is an independently run coffeehouse/wine-and-beer bar in Decatur, GA that also happens to host some damn fine music on its patio stage. While not a professional music venue per se, the MONKEY has had some of the best musical talent in the world perform at it's venue. Mike West (Truckstop Honeymoon), Matthew Kahler, Blake Guthrie, Edie Carey, The Brilliant Inventions and Joe Gransden to name just a few.
If one word could describe the musical happenings at JAVAMONKEY it would be eclectic... and diverse. Okay, that's two words. You get the picture.
This page is here for two reasons: to let our customers know what is going on on our stage, let the musicians know how to play on our stage and let everyone who cares about such things to get to know each other irregardless. Okay, that's three things. Let's all be friends, despite our lack of math skills, whatd'ya say?

BOOKING INFO:
Thanks for your interest in performing at JAVAMONKEY. Here's a copy of the general info e-mail that I send to everyone who inquires about a gig.
First: There's no money involved. You'd be playing for a $25 food and drink tab, and tips. You're more than welcome to sell merch on the patio, where the stage is. The patio is covered over the stage and heated in the wintertime. We're not a professional music venue so we can't afford to pay acts. If an act proves to be a good draw (meaning capacity-to-overfill crowd on a consistent basis) we can then start to talk about money.
Second: It's a D.I.Y. gig. That means no soundman, doorperson, etc. Like I said, we're not a professional music venue, but it is a nice, intimate enviroment to play in. You would have to set up the PA yourself. We have an eight channel mixer, a power conditioner and a pair of new professionally installed performance speakers. Our mics and stands tend to disappear so it is recommended that you bring bring your own. Or you can bring your own PA, or play unplugged. Either way, you're on your own. There's a volume knob behind the stage to turn down the house music. Set yourself up, put out a tip jar and have fun!
Third: If you're still interested then I need to hear you! Save your stamps and promo materials and send me an online link to your music. I do all the booking over e-mail and I check it once a week.
If you're a Luddite demo's can also be dropped off or mailed to JAVAMONKEY.
Be aware that I have a lot of people who want to play and very few slots available to fill. If I don't respond to you in a timely manner it doesn't mean I think you suck.
