   About Jason Broome
I live in upstate New York. I write and sing and play and dance and curse. I like to think I have a band called "Tulula." We are lovely. Sometimes I perform with my Brooklyn band, "the Westport Sunrise Sessions" but mostly we spend a lot of time slinking into microphones and machines in rooms with no view. When I am feeling too understood and particularly sadistic I rant spastic with my politically motivated avant rock band "Gilding the Lily." I lived in cities all over the world but got sick of the race of mice. I need to walk my dogs and run naked in the woods and pee on trees and play music and scream without getting heckled. I started the Diablo Dulce record label (http://diablodulce.com) to house the diverse talents of my friends and my own bands and projects. I like doing all things music and I am into developing a community of like minded artists who can work together to make (insert passion of the day) groovy. I have been lucky enough to tour Spain three times. Twice with the lovely and talented Paula O'Rourke and "Tiny" and once with "the Westport Sunrise Sessions." I also drove through Indiana once in a truck called Big Ed. He died in a Burger King drive thru in Schenectady. As a Palestinian-American, and someone who spent most of his childhood in developing countries, I take an active role in the world around me. The current situations in the Middle East and Africa and countless other places around the world, including our backyard, demand change. If my music and voice and words cannot effect a peaceful, just and informed perspective then I am not worthy. My pursuits have helped raise money and awareness for such causes as the Middle Eastern Children's Alliance, the Wheels of Justice, the Green Party, A.N.S.W.E.R., IndyMedia.org, the International Solidarity Movement, Enemy Combatant Radio and the Coalition on Homelessness. If you ever need a band for a benefit show, we would be honored to oblige. I am all about independent musicians and activists working together to create momentum for change so if you are ever in the New York area and need help, drop me a line. Thanks for listening and reading. Peace JB
